Money Isn’t Everything…
Why do people think that if you have money that’s the only way you will be happy? Shouldn’t you be happy with what you have?
Take your job as an example. You are getting paid enough that you can have good health, pay your bills, have decent housing accomodations, and have food on the table. Do you REALLY need a salary hike? Itne main guzaara nahi ho raha kya? Are you not happy? Will it make a difference if you are getting another 500 bucks (dollars) in your pocket? I think if you are getting paid that is satisfying across the board in your industry, you should be happy with it. Even if by chance your friend or collegeaue is getting 500 or a 1000 bucks more than you a month, you should still be happy. Why? Because you are still living quite nicely. You don’t have worries about living paycheck to paycheck.
Standards of salary is different in India and USA. In USA, an IT fresher is making 45,000 dollars a year where even if you are working in the best to best IT company in India, you might only be making max 2 lacs per year (20,000 Rs. per month). Kya koi aadmi/aurat kya 20,000 main guzaara nahi kar sakta India main? Yes, he/she won’t have a car but that’s ok, India has public transportation. He/She might not have the NICEST house, but that’s ok, its just the beginning and there is no family to worry about yet. In US, 45,000 dollars per year, you have to have a car and you can live in a nice flat for 600 bucks per month (dependent on where you are located).
There are too many people that I know, in US and in India, that look at salary before looking at what the job is and what kind of work they are giving. When did money become more important than your career? Will money bring you success? Will money achieve your ambition in life? I hardly doubt it. It will be your hardwork dedication, and the good experiences that you will get through your jobs that will take you up the corporate ladder.
I think that money has been given too much importance in our society. People should realize the things that are important like your happiness, your health, and your loved ones. Even people with a lot of money are not happy why is that? Money doesn’t buy you happiness. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Poonam, whatever said & done, money is definately important.
Like in your current job, would you work with them, if they were paying you $15k annually. You stay with your family, you dont need to worry about any bills, or any other kharcha, so why do you need extra money. Would you be happy?
Gone are the day yaar, when ppl didnt see money.
have you heard of this.
Its my favorite line

My situation. I am not always going to be living with my family. I am lucky that my project is so close to home and even in Chicago that I have relatives there. If i was in some other town than that, then I would be on my own (Like I am going to find out in my next project next month ). Who says that I don’t pay bills? I spend a lot (see post: “5 Things” for more details ) of $$ on phone cards amongst other things I help pay some of the bills at home as well. So I have things to think about and I try to save some money from every paycheck.
My point is that money won’t bring you happiness. There is much more to life than just that. When people realize this, jealously, anger, and trying to top someone else for the wrong reasons will all be lesser.

I follow where you’re getting at, but even though you say money aint everything, i believe Money definately means a lot to most of the people, including me.
