Ares Lite 1.8.1 And More…
So yesterday I woke up pretty late as Neeraj and I spent all Sunday morning chatting on the net (as you can see from the timings of the post, I didn’t get to bed until after 5 am central US time ).
Later that afternoon, I was talking to Naveen. A little background on Naveen. He is 11 yrs old and he is Srinivas Uncle and Rekha Aunty’s son (friends of my parents). Naveen only speaks English and I have been telling him for two years that he should learn Hindi.
So I was talking to him yesterday on AOL, and he wanted to know the newest Hindi songs. I was shocked . Naveen and hindi songs?? Could it be true?
Yes it was. He found a new downloading tool (similar to Kazaa but no ads :grin:) and he was learning Hindi from his parents so wanted to download some new songs. I told him that I was going to re-download Kazaa but thought I would give this new software a shot.
Its called Ares Lite 1.8.1 and you can download it here. You download the software (only 913 kb) onto your hard drive and then you connect to their central computers and are able to access songs.
I have downloaded it and made sure that hindi songs were available (which they were). I didn’t get a chance to download any songs because then it was time to go to Chicago . Oh well, I will be back home on Wednesday so will try it then.

Hey Poonam, it is a nice software, but i guess they dont have as many users and the d/l speeds are also not as good as kazaa has.
Why dont u try using torrents, they are simple downloads off the websites!!
on a different note - i see that u use “jai mata di” a lot, have u ever been to vaishno devi ?
July 26th, 2004 at 3:24 pm
Yep - I have been to Vaishnodevi back in 1995 and its an experience of its own. Just recently I went to see Narendra Chanchal live in Chicago (you can read here). It may seem odd (I don’t know how religious you are) but Mata Rani has played a pivotal role in my life and that’s why I believe so much. Sabka apna apna soch hota hai.
Have you been to Vaishnodevi?

Jay kara shero walli da
I went to Vaishno Devi about 8 months back when it was freezing, but i luved every moment of that trip.
Coming to torrents & your software, i havent yet tried it lekin i use Torrents myself & Azareus for them, and i really like it. NO speed problems, and often find what i am looking for. I’ve download movies, softwares for torrents too. Infact download M/S Office 03 too
Poonam, i’ve started liking the gallery software, and might move from my SimpleViewer to Gallery.

Arre setting up gallery mein kya help yaar. I’ll shoot my questions when i need to set up a wireless network ;)
Azareus is the software used to download torrents. You can download it from this site.
You will need to have JAVA installed on your machine to use Azareus. Once installed go to Desi Torrents website and download the torrents that you want. They generally are upto 100kb in size. Then open Azareus, and go to File, and Open (i think) and then select the file that you downloaded. It will asks you where you want to save the final file, select a location and bingo, you’re all set, it will start downloading aapne aap. :D
Once downloaded, you can delete the torrent file that you downloaded (100Kb walla)
If you need any more help, feel free to eMail me

Guys: you shouldn’t be having this discussion so openly; call me paranoid but, RIAA is after people, and if you live in th US, be careful. I suggest you edit all comments so they don’t look so obvious. I use KCeasy btw (connects to Fastrack[Kazaa network], OpenFT and Gnutella simultaneously) Trick is to install version 0.11 first and then the latest over it since Fastrack is not supported on the latest version anymore.

I really don’t think it s a big problem, BUT if someone would like me to edit their comments, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks Chetan for the extra info (I was surprised that you posted it because I thought you were paranoid about it :duck::cool:) J/K.

Ares Lite
Ares Lite: A P2P software that connects you to the Ares Lite central server and allows you to download files submitted by other users. Also its very light weight, only 1.16 MB. Yum!
Thanks to Poonam for the link.
