Current Tune: Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat
So now after a day’s suspense, who called Neeraj? It was someone from my family.
It was someone in Bombay.
It was my Lalit Mama.
So here’s the story. If you have read our story in the About Us section, you know that after I graduated in December 2003, I had asked my parents to go to India. They declined and said that they just can’t send me there to meet Neeraj without knowing who he is. Because my parents don’t really know when they will be able to go to India, my mother said that if Lalit Mama (who is my mother’s brother in Mumbai) accepts Neeraj then my parents will accept him as well. When we had this discussion, Mumma had asked for Neeraj’s information (where he lives, his telephone number, where his family lives, father’s name, etc). I gave it to her, and she said that she will talk to Lalit Mama. During those days, Lalit Mama was out of town and a few times he was sick so I don’t think she got a chance to relay the message.
Now that eight months have passed since that time, I still didn’t even have a clue if Mumma ever told Lalit Mama or not. I had actually given up hope and that’s why we were taking it up in our hands to do everything (Neeraj talks to his parents then we would talk to mine).
Lalit Mama’s call was that’s why so shocking yesterday — and its such a coincidence that he calls the same week when Neeraj is going to go home and talk to his parents about us.
Anyway while talking with Neeraj on the phone, Lalit Mama asked it seemed like anything and everything in three minutes ![]()
1. Where are you working?
2. Where did you previously work? Why did you leave that job?
3. What does your father do? What does your mother do?
4. How many brothers and sisters? How many are married?
5. How long have you been living in Mumbai?
6. Where is your office?
7. What do you do on the weekends? How long do you usually stay in the office in the weekdays?
There might be other questions that I forgotten. Lalit Mama wants to meet Neeraj so they are meeting Thursday night in the evening right outside Neeraj’s office. Please pray for us. I know that everything will go just fine, and Neeraj will do just great but its a bit nerve-wracking for the both of us. Its the first time we are facing this situation, and we just don’t know what to expect (that’s natural).
Lalit Mama told Neeraj that he is going to have to tell my parents in the USA what he thought of him, so its good that they are meeting sooner, and that too before he goes home to Hindaun.
So that’s that. I am going to the mandir (temple) tonight and seek His guidance and blessings for tomorrow. I am excited at the same time worried. I don’t know how Neeraj is feeling.
I know he’s strong and we have discussed the many things that Lalit Mama might ask him.
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.
Bhagwaan aaj hamari rakshaa karna aur humein himmat dena. (God, today please watch after us and give us strength)
Good Luck Neeraj
[Ankur] Thanks buddy:!::!: I guess tomorrow everything will go well:smile:
Definitely it will go GREAT!! Mata Rani par vishwaas hai mere ko. Aur mera Neeraj par bhi double the vishwaas hai.
I wish I was with him, but then again if I was in India, I wouldn’t get to go anyway.
