Whoa, Lots Can Happen in 30 Minutes

Current Tune: Hum toh Bhai Jaise Hain - Veer Zaara

A lot just happened in a small timespan. Since yesterday I have been a horrible wreck.   I had gotten a call yesterday from a senior manager who was interested in me for a project in downtown Chicago for six months. Later to find out from some colleagues, who were also being chosen for the position, that the job is very cumbersome and basically documentation. Its not the type of role I am looking for; I want something technical based. Anyway, the senior manager requested that I come on Friday. I have been terrified because I don’t want to take the position (and if they like me, I don’t have a choice; I have to take it).

Two things that were really irking me:

  • I would have to be up by 5 am to reach downtown Chicago by 8.30 am as requested
  • Accomodations. Thoujee and Taijee are going to India for every Tom, Dick, and Harry that is getting married on my father’s side of the family. :banghead: So that means I would have no place to stay for about three out of the six months. :grumpy: I emailed the Sr. Manager and told him that because he said that he might be able to set me up with a hotel.
  • So I had written this wonderful post @ 3.30 pm today and all of a sudden the site goes down. :irked: It just now is up again and I got an email from that senior manager that they have chosen someone else for the project! You don’t know how happy I am. This project would have not helped my career at all.

I can’t wait to tell Neeraj. Now if I can stay on the corporate bench for one week longer, then in the first week of October I will be able to attend the Sun Microsystems Waveset training in Chicago. That sounds quite interesting to me.

    Other News

Happy Belated Wedding Anniversary (it was yesterday) to Lalit Mama and Anita Mami. Neeraj tried to call Lalit Mama yesterday to wish him but for some reason Mamaji cell phone was not working. I told Neeraj to try today as well but the same result.

Ganpati Puja has been going all week @ home. I have been participating in the aarti with Mumma except today. I had work up piled up past my throat, and I guess I didn’t hear her ring the Aarti bell.

I had gotten a call from one of my seniors in college yesterday. He also works for XXX in my group, and he was coming down to my university to give presentations and represent XXX @ the job fair today. He asked if I was not busy then I could help him with the presenations last night that he had to give on computer careers.

So my first recruiting gig, and I think I did quite well. It was definitely a lot of fun and saw many of my old professors.

That’s it. My excitement level just peaked with not going to Chicago tomorrow. I am relieved. :faint:

I can’t wait to tell Neeraj. Did I already say that? :rotfl: Third’s time the charm:

I can’t wait to tell Neeraj
