Phir Milenge Ko Hats Off

Current Tune: Yunhi Chala Chal – Swades

Phir Milenge - Salman, Shilpa, and Abhishek

Watched second half of Phir Milenge and now taping the movie, so watching it from the beginning. A very well thought out movie, and two thumbs up to the director. Some of the ideas were taken from a Hollywood movie, Philadelphia, where Tom Hanks plays a gay man who is HIV positive. Denzel Washington plays his lawyer.

In this movie, Shilpa Shetty finds out that she is HIV positive when she tries to give blood at the hospital to help her sister who had been in an accident. She loses her job due to the fact that she is HIV positive, and her boss does not want anyone with that disease working in his company. She fights against him and his company with the help of a lawyer, Abhishek Bachchan. To find out how she gets the virus and if she ever gets her justice, you will have to watch the movie.

What I was shocked to see is that many people are so ignorant regarding this disease. AIDS is spreading in India like wildfire and so many do not know that just by touching someone who has the virus will not cause you to get it. Just by being in the same room with an HIV positive person, you will not get the virus. Abhishek Bachchan says it right that instead of ostracizing these people and leaving them out in the wild to fend for themselves, we should give them that love and support that they need. They also have the right to live their lives and work as they please.

Its sad — how Shilpa receives the virus — I totally disagree with but that doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t be able to earn a living. After all, she is still a human being. Indian society needs to be educated about this disease — its growing at a fast rate and we need to stop it.

To the director, Revathy, great topic and great direction. I hope everyone sees this movie. Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, the girl that plays her sister, and Salman Khan did a great job in the movie.

Whoever played Shilpa Shetty’s sister in this movie is too good, choti bahen aaisi honi chaiye.

    Thanks for the review

  2. Abhishek says:

which is ur first choice: hollywood or bollywood???

  3. Luna says:

Yes, Poonam, I found the movie a very well scriptedone. And the best part in the movie, is the constant irony that runs throughout the movie, even towards the end. It portrays what differentiates literate and illiterate people in the psychological sense. I saw it the very next day, after I saw Dhoom, so imagine my frame of mind, before and after the movie. Tchah!! Class.
And acting! OMG, I never knew Shilpa could act so well. and you know something? I do not know Hindi. So imagine Revathy’s grasp. As you said a must see for all connoisseurs. :-)

  4. Poonam says:

You are always welcome Ankur.

Bollywood all the way Abhi. I live in the US, but I have not seen a Hollywood movie in over two years! Can you believe it? I think I like Bollywood for the reason that is in about our culture and in our language. Easier to relate, I guess.

    Soch soch ki baat hai.

Hey Luna, thanks for visiting! You don’t know Hindi? How do you find Hindi movies? Because you don’t know the language do you find it boring at times? Just trying to get your perception on it.

It portrays what differentiates literate and illiterate people in the psychological sense.

I totally agree Luna, and it is sad that there is such a barrier in a country where they should be more educated about the disease.

I was surprised too that Shilpa could act. My brother was saying that she doesn’t know how to cry, but I think she did really well in that aspect as well. My dear Abhishek also did a great job!

  5. gremlin says:

    Have to see this movie.

  6. Poonam says:

Yes definitely check it out, Gremlin. Its a must-see.

I was very impressed with the direction as well with the protrayal of the story. Its one of those movies that you don’t get bored with — which is when the director can actually feel that they have accomplished something.

  7. Mona says:

ohhhhhhhh I can’t wait to watch this movie :rotfl: before reading your posting, I was so excited to watch this movie because our favourite, the cutest guy ever is in there, Abhishek Bachan  but now after reading your posting, I really can’t wait :hyper:

Yeah it’s true sometimes people still don’t understand that being close with someone who got AIDS, you will not get that disease so easily. This movie is really good, it teaches the audiences to understand more about AIDS. Movie is a really good way for telling something to the society

  8. Poonam says:

You haven’t seen it yet, Mona? Great movie to see – a definite must-see. Abhishek did a FANTASTIC job – you will be so impressed with his acting. My mother kept on asking is that Amitabh that we are hearing or Abhishek? She thought he sounded just like his father.

Yes definitely Mona it does teach society about AIDS — which is needed for our society. But these types of films just don’t work. If you remember wayyy back when Preity Zinta had played a role of a girl having a baby out of wedlock in Kya Kehna. Thought-provoking movie — but hardly did any business @ the box office.

    Sad really, isn’t it?

  9. Monty says:

This has to be the first movie that you saw before me poonam  Chal koi baat nahin. :) I generally d/l movies on the day they are released, weird how i missed this one.

  10. Poonam says:

Haan Monty, pata nahi is baar main aage aur tum peeche kaise rahe gaye  :rotfl:

You watch this one Monty, I think its a definite good one to see!

  11. Ankur Raheja says:

From where Monty downloads new movie :?:

  12. Poonam says:

[Ankur] – Monty downloads from DesiTorrents. If you want to know more about Desi Torrents, read the comments in this post.

Monty does an excellent job explaining about it.

  13. Monty says:

Desitorrents have movies on the day it is released  Highly recommend.

  14. Ankur Raheja says:

    Gr8! thanks for sharing….

  15. Ashwin says:

Sounds like a very interesting movie. Will definitely check it out if I get a chance :).
and nice to know you too liked the songs from Swades… isnt the theme tune so haunting!! i like the line which goes “yeh woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta”…its really touching!!!! :)

  16. pranshu says:

:rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:hey me finally managed to open ur blog through my free company internet connection clappp clapp :hyper: :hyper::cool:

  17. Poonam says:

Yep its a nice one to check out, Ashwin. Swades songs are rocking. I heard that you were talking to Rash about the comment I made on your blog on what she said about the music.

** For everyone who didn’t read Ashwin‘s blog, Rashu thinks that the songs from Swades are a hangover from Lagaan. **

Note to Rashu:: you will now be getting more instant messages than you will have EVER imagined! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey Pranshu, even we are very happy that you are able to view the blog from the company. How did the change happen? Hopefully your company has taken away the filter that shows our website being a gambling site! :rotfl:

  18. Mona says:

Yeah :grumpy: unfortunately, this kind of the movie is hardly getting box office somehow the audiences don’t like it, anyway of course we like it because at least there is Abshishek there :faint: hahaha yeahh he is getting more like his father day after day :rotfl:

  19. Poonam says:

You know Mona, I think Abhishek Bachchan is becoming a finer actor as he gets more experience. His performance in this film really shows that he has grown from his Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya and Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai days.

This film should win an award this year but of course it will get overshadowed by name films like Swades and Veer Zaara which will be released by the end of the year. Hopefully the critics will notice.
