And The Best Couple Award Goes To…
Current Tune: Naach Meri Jaan Naach Naach
Sometimes when you are feeling low, its nice to look back at the memories. Neeraj and I have been feeling low,
and instead of talking about why and for what reason and make ourselves feel even lower, its much nicer to indulge and reminisce on our good times.
It reminds us how lucky we are to have such good times to remember!
December 2001. Jaipur, India.
My first time in Jaipur and how wonderful it was to be with Neeraj. We had gone out one night, and I had gotten a stomachache.
We had already planned for the next night to go out to a discotheque to do some dancing. I wasn’t feeling my normal self, but I was so excited to go dancing with Neeraj.
I don’t remember the name of the place, I will have to ask Neeraj but the entry fee was nominal for a couple.
There was an arcade full of video games where Neeraj and I played this motorcycle game where you have to actually sit on it.
How fun that was!
Then, we went towards the dancing area.
:hyper:
Neeraj knows that I love to dance, and he is a good dancer himself.
So we get on the dance floor, and Neeraj is just standing there.
I was asking him, what’s wrong, why aren’t you dancing, blah blah..etc. He would just stare at me and smile.
So the song ended and I took him to the side. I asked if there was anything wrong and he said no, so I said then on the next song you are going to dance. ![]()
Then we started dancing. Wow! What fun we had! Neeraj dances sooo well!
They even had one or two slow songs which were absolutely wonderful!
Then they were playing some bhangra, and not sure but then I got that oh-not-feeling-so-good feeling. During that time, some guy came up to Neeraj while we were dancing, and started to whisper in his ear.
What’s going on?
After that song, we decided to leave because I wasn’t feeling too good. I asked Neeraj what that guy wanted and he said that he wanted to know our names. I was like, ok, whatever. So just has we are leaving the dance floor, we hear:
And the best couple dancing goes to, Neeraj AND Poonam!
We both did a double take.
WHAT?!? We won Best Couple Dancing???? Wow.
Then the announcer says:
It seems that they have left! Oh well.

Arre, but we were still there.
So we didn’t get the prize that they were giving out, but we were very happy that the first time we went out dancing, we won an award!
That will be a night that I will never forget.
Not only for the dancing, but Neeraj took so good care of me because of my health.
Lagta hai jodi sahi hai hamari.
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

Mona it was just an unimaginable night.
I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night (well, if my health would have 100%, I guess that would have made it more perfect ). But it was extraordinary as you can imagine.
Marriage? With your good wishes and prayers, we hope it will be very soon. Will be talking to my parents in the next few days and explain the situation and then with good hopes they will accept to come with me to India in December. That’s when we will meet with Neeraj’s parents to clear any misconceptions.
No later than May 2005 is what we are hoping for a wedding date. So keep your calendar open my dear friend.
You are married???? Or getting married? You were just lovestruck the other day when I went to your blog. What’s the story??
