Warning: This post was written on 14th October (day after the Bush-Kerry debates). Other things came up so never posted it…..until now.
“Your record is such that Ted Kennedy, your colleague, is
the conservative senator from Massachusetts”
— George W. Bush
Ha, now that’s funny.
I definitely think that Bush has the better humor than his stiff Democrat counterpart. Kerry has always came off to be the “snob on the block” whenever I see him on TV.
The debate last night was good. I tend to disagree with the structure of how the debates are performed because at times it seems that they are not counter-acting each other’s point but just trying to make themselves look better.
What I think was MOST unapproriate last night during the debates was the discussion on gay marriages. I thought it was distasteful and rude of John Kerry to mention Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter being a lesbian during this discussion. Why do you have to bring that in as leverage? It was a turnoff for me when Kerry’s running mate, John Edwards, did it during the VP debates with VP Dick Cheney watching on, and I think it was even worse when this “President Wannabe” (Kerry) brings it up again.
Kerry and Edwards need to find better points than trying to use their opponent’s family life as a key aspect of their argument on gay marriages. As a US citizen who will be voting in the November elections for the first time, I really don’t care if Cheney’s daughter is gay or not, because its not going to change my view on the topic.
Bush says that he is against it that means he will stick to it, no matter how many people are gay in his cabinet’s respected families.
I was never going to vote for Kerry just because I can’t see him doing any better for the country and since last night he has made an even worse impression on me.
My brother, Suraj said it best:
Vote for Bush now. Four years later we will have two new candidates with new fresh ideas.
Good thought bro! If Kerry wins this time, then Senator Hilary Clinton won’t have a chance for another eight years to be president! Think of it that way all of the feminists out there!
Bush All The Way! Vote Bush!
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.
I agree it was distasteful of Kerry to pick an Individual as an example and the fact that even Edwards did the same thing does take some sheen off Kerry and his party.
But if for a moment you isolate the fact the even Edwards said the same thing and that Kerry has mentioned the same thing about Cheney’s daughter and just concentrate on the exact transcript, maybe you will see that he did not mean it in an offensive way.
Here is the transcript :
I think he is being understanding over here. But ya , as I said, using someone in particular as an example on national television is not in good taste.
All said and done,I will go with your brother’s comment .. makes so much sense.
…she would tell you that she?s being who she was, she?s being who she was born as. I think if you talk to anybody, it?s not choice.
Now how does Kerry know how Dick Cheney’s daughter is feeling?
I don’t seem to agree with you there. His motive was not to be understanding at all. If Kerry’s son/daughter was gay, do you think that he would have liked it if President Bush would have said this about his child? I don’t think so and so he has no right of saying anything about anybody else’s child.
Kerry doesn’t know how she is feeling and will never understand and should have kept his mouth shut.
I hope this costs him the election because I know that I think much less of him then I did before:!:
Yup my bro made a good point, Sameer; even I agreed with him.
Pointing fingers at somebody in National Television is always a bad idea, the topic could easily have been generalised. Barking at somebody like that only show’s their immaturity.
BTW, as far as I know, Bush has a greater chance of winning as per national statistics, isn’t it???
My brother was telling my family a statistic today that showed that if the elections were today that Bush would win by five points. This last debate hurt Kerry at the polls.
I agree with you Abhishek totally. Would you want this type of guy to be your president? I wouldn’t!
I don’t really follow the debates, but I think Kerry tries his best to win this election, He says just anything opposite what Bush said
Totally agree with you, it’s not appropriate I guess talking about gay stuff in debate like that :???:
I know that politics are dirty, but when you start talking about your opponent’s family life, that’s when I draw the line. Even if he was saying something just in reference, I don’t think it should be done.
You are right Mona, he did it just to make a point because both candidates agree on the issue of not legalizing gay marriages, but Kerry has no right to talk about the Vice President’s daugther, gay or not.
well Poonam..i really do not see the logic behind voting for 4 more years of poor leadership just to give Hillary Clinton a chance to run next time :). i dont know if Kerry will be better..no one knows that..coz we havent seen him as President..but I am sure he will not be worse than President Bush.
I would strongly recommend you to visit this blog as early as you get a chance.
Ashwin, I hardly doubt that Bush will provide four years of leadership. I do doubt what Kerry can do for this country. If he (Kerry) had that charisma that Bush shows and a plan then of course, I would vote for that Democrat; but I just don’t see that care or enthusiasm for this country in him.
I am a Republican, I won’t be voting for Hilary Clinton anytime soon, but the point that my brother was making that neither candidate in this election is really strong to lead this country. In four years, new people and fresh ideas will lead to a better America and for that happen, Kerry cannot be president. More understandable? :???:
I checked out that blog and the person who wrote it has interesting thoughts. I don’t think that I agree with the author, but everyone is entitled to their own thoughts.
Kerry is too wishy washy for this country to go anywhere with him. So its been, and always will be, Bush all the way.
