Diwali Week!

Posted on November 8th, 2004 by Poonam

This is Diwali week, with the special occasion being on Friday, and there is much to be done! Happy Diwali from NP.com!

The weekend was enjoyable with everyone over yesterday. Neeraj is working hard today and tomorrow, as Wednesday is leaving to go back home to Hindaun to be with his family for Diwali. I am going to miss him , as always, but hopefully we will be able to talk as much as we do when he is in Mumbai.

Yesterday we were discussing who would be coming to the mandir (temple) on Saturday for the Diwali function and soon after I made a random comment that might have gotten myself into a lot of work. :eyebrow:  There is a cultural program at the mandir that night and guess who will be doing a dance????? Yes. Its me and our group.

The song? Well, if we can’t get the husbands of the ladies in our group (mind you that these people in our 30s, not much older than that  I call them ladies cuz I don’t know how else to describe them  ) to do it, then we will do the song from Veer Zaara called Hum toh Bhai Jaise Hain. If everyone agrees then we will do the Aisa Des Hai Mera, from the same movie. The latter song will have more acting then actual dance steps, so that’s why I think that the guys (which will also include my brother, Suraj  ) will agree. Got any better ideas for songs? Leave a comment but looking for only new and peppy songs with good lyrics.

So one of the ladies, Lopa, is coming over today and we will discuss what we can do and plan it all out. It should be fun. We have five days to do this but this isn’t our first dance as a group. This will be our third dance together so we are pretty coordinated. It should be fun but work as well.

I will post the photos after Diwali so you all can see me in action. Gotta remember to take it with the digital camera, otherwise you all will have to wait a loooonng time. (no new scanner yet )

Friday, we will have Lakshmi/Diwali pooja at our house, maybe do some fireworks, and also make rangoli right outside our front door. Its a fun time of the year. My family gets into it as much as possible.

Saturday is D-Day for the dance.

Sunday is relax.

Monday, Neeraj will be back. Waiting for that day only.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

woww dancing, ehem ehem .. I wish I could see you and your group dancing. hmm good songs !!! All the songs from that movie are great :hyper: hmmm how about songs from Hum Tum ? Chak De Chak De ? I am not sure whether it’s suitable for Diwali Celebration event  dunno the meaning … but the song is really cool and the dance in that movie during that song is really cool too ?

    Have a great day

    Hello Ladies

Rash, arre aaise fireworks karne kaa jisse pata nahi chale. We have a house so its easier for us and we do the sizzling on a stick type…not the dhamaka ones. Those we do at the mandir. Hamare ghar par aa jaa..

Long time no see Pareeka. Now I understand why as you were busy with your studies. Good to hear that your exams are now done. Hope that everything went well. Enjoy Diwali! Yes, the banner is great and a fabulous reminder.

Diwali is lots of fun in India, Mona. If you ever want to see it, you should be in India during that time.

Even I had suggested the Chak De song from Hum Tum but just the problem is that we wanted a female dominating song. We ended up choosing Aisa Desh Hai Mera song from Veer Zaara (that is also male dominating) but we are going to use it as an “acting” song more than a “dancing” song. It should be fun! Will let you know how it turns out. If I knew how to put the video on the server, I would but I don’t have the newer video cameras, I still have the ones where you have to put the cassette tape.

Someday when we will meet and sit together, i will show u the tape.
