Independence is in Your Near Future…

Posted on November 22nd, 2004 by Poonam

The time has come. Monday is that faithful day that my parents will be on their way to apun ka desh, India. I have spent all this week helping Mumma pack bags. Finally just now at 1 am, we are finally done putting things, labelling from the outside with my parents’ names, and weighing the bags. All the bags are under the weight limit and we are now on our way.

Tomorrow around 1 pm, I will be heading with my parents to Chicago O’Hare Airport where they will be boarding their Air India flight to India via Frankfurt. I am happy for them that they are going but at the same time, I will miss them as well. No fiqar, ek mahine main toh main bhi apun ke desh main hongi.

So for the first time in my life, I will be very much independent, well mera bhai bhi hai abhi tak ghar main mere saath. WE will be independent without our parents. First time we will be doing our own laundry, cleaning our own dishes, and watching the whole house on our own. This is going to be a task but I think it will be manageable. Grocery shopping will be done for the first time as Independent Poonam and Suraj rock the city of Morton on their very own. :rotfl:

Do either of us know how to cook? Well, I told Suraj that we will be trying out the Swad packets for Indian food. Everything else Mumma has stocked up for us.

Tomorrow I am going to Chicago and Tuesday I have to be in the downtown office. I will then drive back in our rental car, that I got tonight, on Tuesday night. So you might not hear from me until Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Maybe Neeraj will write a post till then? :???: **fingers crossed**

Until then, your good wishes are needed that my parents’ have a safe journey to India. BTW Neeraj will be going to pick them up at the airport along with Lalit Mama and family. So my parents will meet him for the first time at the airport. :hyper: :hyper: How exciting! Wish us good luck for that as well. I will be back from Chicago on Tuesday night.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

    uv never been home alone?!?!?!?
    lolll… I’ve been home alone like 82093784827394 times… with richa that is…
but since I’ve come here… Richu(who’s not even 15) has been home alone like twice!!

Punnu and Suraj…. best of luck… and enjoy!! :p

  2. Gaurav Says:

lol @ home alone. I have been home alone a lot of times, but that was in India. It was really fun. If my parents were gone somewhere then I’d call my friend to my house or if his parents were gone then he used to call me to his home….those days were rellay cool :(

BTW Poonam so far I have assumed that you were born in India and came here a few or may be a lot of years ago. Am I correct?

Also wot stats plugin r u using? I need a simple stats plugin for another site. I looked at stattraq, but its too resource intensive. I liked the stat plugin u r using, it doesn’t collect fijul ka data.

  3. Gaurav Says:

nevermind…. I got it off the wiki. Its cool!!

  4. Poonam Says:
Its not like I haven’t been home alone Rash and Gaurav, its just that I have not been home alone for a two months. Few days it doesn’t matter, but two months is a long time to be doing my own laundry.

You are wrong Gaurav, I was born and brought up in the USA. Born in Chicago and have moved around to California and then back here to Illinois.

Good I am glad that you found the stats plugin. Wiki is great.

Gaurav its really fun well when anytime any of my friends say there parents out of town the most obvious by now its been understood without even saying ?.. ?the party :hyper:? those party reminds me of loud music neighbors yelling :rotfl:lol , and lot of masti earlier most obvious thing would use to be booz lol, but now its to catch up with friends etc

Poonam even probably my parents would be going out so me too home along for 1 week… but damn got zillions of things pilled upon things to do list for college project etc that would be so caught up with thing I wont realize when they left and when they came back:roll:

  6. Ankur Raheja Says:

    Good Luck to Neeraj
And Happy Journey to your parents

Gaurav, your party statements reminds of Bart Simpson’s Deep Deep Trouble :rotfl:

Poonam, frankly tell us… what you can cook, ofcourse well

  7. Ankur Raheja Says:

There is no editing option :irked:

  8. Poonam Says:
Have fun being alone for a week Puneet. Me going to enjoy the time with my bhayia. It will be sad not having the parents around but independence is always nice. It will be a nice test to see the things I can and cannot do.

Thanks Ankur for the good wishes. As for the cooking, woh toh aazmaa ke hi dekhna padega. Neeraj aur mere ghar par bulaaongi phir tum test kar lena. But I can tell you this, I can make anything and everything vegetarian.

You know I am looking for an editing plugin where those who comment can edit their own comments. If you find it, then let me know.

  9. Ankur Raheja Says:

I think, editing option will be available to those who register at Blogs and login to make a post. You can experiment this at my Blogs, as I have kept the registration open. Let me know the result

Btw, I only have vegetarian, good for me  But hope you don’t invite me to USA for Lunch or Dinner, as then I will be served virtual food only  over the net

  10. kickstart Says:

Beta, welcome to my life (though only for a month) Swad packets… hahaha. so reminds me of my first year here. Now I have virtually stopped cooking. Time hi nahi mailta na… or more appropriately, I’ve become lazy.
Anyways I hope your parents have a good flight. Aren’t they going to india after 9 years? And u have a ball for a month. My list for India is coming… bachu.. u are not gonna escape :duck:

  11. rash Says:

excuse me punnu ji… idhar apne ko khud laundry kanee hoti hai… pichle 3 mahine se khud se kar rahi hun!! tu bhi kar legi!! :p

  12. Poonam Says:
There has to be a way for people to edit their comments Ankur in a time span, let’s say 2 mins after entering or something like that. There is no sense of everyone to register on each blog. That would give too much access as well. Anyway will keep looking. If you ever need any editing just let me know, I will do it.

Kickstart beta khana nahi khaaogai toh bade bacche kaise bannogai?? So Swad se lazy toh phir kya karte ho khana ke liye??

Good memory. My father is going after nine years, mother is going after 7 yrs. List bhej deo…phir IL aana lene ke liye. Post wost ki jhanjat apun nahi aate haaaaaaan.

Rashu dear, tune bhi toh abhi hi laundry kar rahi hai par dear dost..main sirf laundry nahi kar rahi.. main ghar ko sambhaal rahi hoon. Dishwasher ka dhyaan, plants ka dhyaan, sab doors woors lock ko uska dhyaan, windows ka dhyaan, mera dear bhayia ka dhyaan. Aaja mere ghar phir tere ko maloom chalega ke sirf laundry nahi hai meri list of responsibilities par. :rotfl:

  13. Gaurav Says:

I haven’t been home alone for that long…a week or 2 max…but I have lived in a hostel, where I had to do almost everything for myself, except cooking. But it was real fun, no rok tok. V used to play crkt @ 2 or 3 am in corridors :P

  14. Gaurav Says:

ohhh….and about comments editing - I dunno if there is any plugin available or not, but I think we can allow the comment poster to edit the comments posted from his ip address. But then we will have probs about the people using NAT or multiple users from a comp. As said by Poonam the 2-5 minute comment editing based on the users ip should work.

On other hand as Ankur pointed out, one can allow registration for members without posting powers (level 0) and it should also work. I would prefer this method.

  15. Puneet Says:

Gaurav or simple method shift to Movable type it got typekey centralized login and password which works on any movable type blog anywhere if option enabled :duck: well can be sure about the identity of the person as its encrypted . if I am not wrong?coz don?t know much about Wp but . well as in this case like open comment… anyone can post any anyone… like i can just enter your name and post only…if someone wants to play mischief and play around? it would be only reviled when .. one check and match IP which is tedious cant expect to be doing for each comment

  16. Poonam Says:
Gaurav, if I am going to implement it, I am going to do something easy — maybe a preview or something where you can check to see what you have written. I had seen something similar on Sushubh’s site but I really don’t like that format. We will see.

I don’t think that TypeKey thing will work in WP. I don’t really find it effective either with your explanation Puneet. The funda of putting in someone else’s name is available in WP as well. Just type in someone else’s name. Only Neeraj and I will know if that person is real or fake thru our IP tracking. I want something that is easy to implement and easy for our readers as well. Nothing too extravagant.
