Papad, Bazee, Blog News, Poll…Phew!

Current Dialogue in my head: “Papad khaa beti, papad khaa” - Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Dalip Tahil is saying to his daughter who returns home after a horrendous dinner @ Aamir Khan’s house 
So what does the above song mean? First of all, I love Punjabi folk songs as they do a great job in portraying real life. 
I hope that I can do a good job explaining and hopefully whoever might read this and haven’t heard this song will want to listen to it! Amritsar is one of the famous cities in Punjab and this whole song is based on the delicacies found there such as papad, vadiyaan, chole, and luchhiyaan. The whole song is sang by a Punjabi wife to her husband. You must understand that Punjabi women are very strong in the sense that they don’t let their husbands walk over them. If they have anything to say, even if its stupid, they will say it (this coming from a true Punjabi kudi herself 
).
She says that she doesn’t like Ambarsare de papad (or any of others, dependent on the verse), and says to her husband that if he tries to show his attitude/ego with her that she isn’t going to stand it. If he wants to stay with her, he can, otherwise he can just go ahead and leave. The last two lines she is telling her husband that the times she has spent with him and listening to him, no other woman would ever do. Then the verses go on such as Ambarsare de chole, tu kara tere bole. What the wife is saying here to her husband is that don’t think that you can say just anything to me, because I won’t stand for it. Interesting song eh? Its just been recently “modernized” by Dolly Gulleria, and the video, as well as the music itself is fantastic. If you watch the video, you might get more of an understanding what’s going on if you don’t understand Punjabi.
Phew. I talked about that more than expected.

Should Bazee.com’s CEO be jailed? Read about the day in the life of Harvard grad Avnish Bajaj, jailed in Jail No. 3 in Tihar Prison. He should have been more careful and now he is paying the price. The IITian (who has an Orkut profile) as well as the juvenile DPS boy should also be punished.

I didn’t pick up the phone because of two reasons, (1) I didn’t recognize the phone number, (2) I thought it was a college friend, Reju, who has been bothering me to fill some form out that I didn’t want to do so have been avoiding his calls 
I think I still might have the number! You should all call again sometime..this time I will definitely pick up or maybe I will try calling you both!

Yeah.. even I feel that the whole MMS thing has been blown out of proportion.. Yesterday, I was watching a news channel in which they showed some other instances of cyber crime… they showed videos of Nagma’s sister… one of south indian actress caught on spy cam.. etc etc… Funny thing is that, I have got all these as forwarded mails about 1-2 years back.. and media is now trying to portray that this happened just a week or month back…
Wonder what harm has bazzee chairman done… he just allowed (knowingly or unknowingly) that clip to be traded on his site.. that’s it… and now the police is saying that they will try to catch each and every one who has downloaded that clip… is it such a big issue? instead of catching hardcore criminals… they are after these people…
I know the whole MMS episode is not right… but media simply has just made it the prime issue of the whole nation.. why?

And, i love Ambarsari chhole, luchiyan and papads …yummmy! (to think that Ms. Chadda made a mincemeat of this lively city in her Bride and Predjudice!)
I hv heard a folk version of this song in many marriage parties and sangeets…not the latest updated one… will check it out soon.

Hmm, I was getting loads of spam lately. So I had to take a break.
Any ways, I have nt yet quit blogging. 
And regarding the arrest of the CEO, its really unfortunate I guess.That guy would have never thought sitting in Jail for a crime, which he did nt committed. Anyways, its not new I guess. I guess this year, some one managed to get a arrest warrant against “Abdul Kalam”, president of India.
It happens probably only in “India“.

I definitely think he should have been jailed Kunal. But then if he is being jailed, why should he have special treatment? Just because he’s an NRI? Hmm..I don’t think that justifies anything. So if this is the treatment that other prisoners get, then for goodness or for worse, he has to go thru it as well.
Bottom line is Avnish Bajaj should have been more careful with his e-commerce site…that’s it. If he would have taken precautions and noticed what people are posting, then today he would not be in the predicament that he is in. Business is not a game nor should it be taken lightly. If you want to run any kind of business, you must also have a watchful eye.
There is reason why this MMS issue has been blown out of proportion Manpreet, and in fact, its good. The reason is good is for two reasons (1) might alert parents to be more cautious to what their children are doing, (2), these boy and girl that had filmed the MMS did it for fame only. They wanted to be in the limelight for their 15 mins of fame and that’s all they cared about. So now they should face the consequences and show other teenagers what happens when you want your 15 mins of fame in this manner.
I don’t say that teenagers won’t be interested in sex in today’s world because its hard not to with the movies and TV serials that are being shown, but I think that teenagers should know what the limitations are and the risks of indulging in sexual behavior @ a young age.
You can’t run a business like that Manpreet. You can’t sell pornographic photos and movies on a site, very much in the open. I would think that Avnish Bajaj would know that. If you would like to read abt. cyber crime, I suggest reading this post that was very well written by Ankur on his website.

It was just yesterday Deepak that Neeraj and I were discussing where you might be from. With the last name of Jeswal, we thought you might be from the same caste as Neeraj, but in his caste they spell it, “Jaiswal”. So was confused.

Dalip Tahil was hilarious as a Sindhi in HHRPK. Another dialogue of his from the same movie that I sometimes say to my dear bhai, “Chaddiyaa ho gaya hai kya..aa jee humse poochega kyaa?? Arre baba…”
I didn’t know that he was Sindhi in real life. Learn something new every day.

[Poonam] I disagree on your point that Bazeee chairman is at fault. Many people misuse their phones. Does that means that phone company’s CEO should be arrested? No. A CEO job is not to look into the content. His job is to manage the company. That baazee CEO simply can’t monitor whole of his site. Its not his job.
For that matter, there is plenty of crap being sold on eBay. Has anybody arrested the eBay CEO so far? No.
As for the incident being blown out of proportion, you should have watched the Indian News channels. I don’t think that you would have felt comfortable watching all this clips with your family. It was like that these news channels have become porn channels itself.
