Game Where You Can Rule…

Posted on February 7th, 2005 by Poonam

Before going to India, I had been asking Neeraj what I could get him from USA, and he said that if I could find the computer game, Age of Empires (AOE) the original version, then that would be great. So from a friend, I got it for him and gave it to him on his birthday.

Then that day or the next day I asked him, how was it and if he has been enjoying playing AOE. His remark was that the game is too good and very addicting. I didn’t have an idea what the game was about so I watched him play it one day. It seemed really interesting. You start off with three villagers and you have to do four main things: gather wood, gold, food, and stone. You play against another person (or if that is available then with the computer), and you start to build your civilzation as quick as possible so that you can attack your opponent (before he/she attacks you! ).

I was watching Neeraj as he was playing the hardest level and attacked his opponent in a half hour (which is amazing! ). He got me so interested in the game that when I came back to the USA, I had to install it in our new PC.

Now I am hooked on this game. My goodness. I am not as good as Neeraj (I don’t think I ever will be either! ) but the game is really interesting (only because I am horribly competitive  ), and its a lot of fun. I have been playing it every day (just about) and even get tips from Neeraj on how to get better.

There you go. My confession is out, and everyone knows now what I do when I am bored.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

Great!! Even I like playing strategy games. But, these days don’t have the resources at my place in Pune, since my PC is lying at my home in Delhi.

But, during my college days, I used to play these games for hours continously.. sometimes palyed them over the network with my friends as opponents.. it was fun!!

Specially liked AOE, Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, SimCity, Warcraft, Black or White, The Sims..

I have played AOE and its true that its addictive.. and I do not have that much patience for long games :banghead:. Now a days I stick to spades or bridge on Yahoo games. short and fun. How about PACMAN for a change :rotfl:

Oh that’s too bad Manpreet that you are not able to play @ home. AOE is great. In fact once Neeraj gets here then we will be able to play on a network, like you were also saying. We could play on the net now, but as everyone knows how slow net speeds in India are… We thought it would be better to play on my network here @ home.

Neeraj likes the Rise of Rome, so that’s we both play. He doesn’t like AOE II or Age of Mythology. Just that one only.

Need for Speed I play on Playstation 2 Sushubh. I have played Vice City, and I personally think its a waste.

Neeraj and I, if we want to play together, then we always head to Yahoo games to play Rummy (Gin), similar to you Pramod. But now that we have this game, both of us are hooked. On Sunday, I played AOE for five hours!!!

Tusi wapas aa gaye Priya ji?? Tum bhi gayab hoti ho, tumhara “woh” bhi gayab hota hai.. Ki gall hai???

Mario is great too! AOE kabhi nahi khela kya?? Kabhi milenge toh mere ko CD doongi..tere ko bhi masti aayegi.

Poonam, it’s just great that you liked the game:smile: I feel we both will have a lots of fun while playing against each other:rotfl: This game is just great, I remember in my college days, some of my friends were used to play AOE for the whole night everyday. Everyday means every day:!: They first make two teams(comparable only) of four players( as the max. players is 8) and start playing. And the game is over in next 1 hour…some ones quit the games in between if they are totally ruined by others and the rest play till last. So it’s just wonderful:rotfl:

Besides all this, one thing good about this game is its Graphics. It’s just amazing.

AOE is surely a nice game…
have been playing it for a while now, the only problem it never ends…hehehehehe
so i wont even start playing it until i have 3 4 hours in hand…and absolutely nothing else to do :duck:

I can’t wait to play against you Neeraj. Haarne toh wali hoon..woh toh mere ko maloom hai..par mazaa aayega…after a while it seems it would be more fun playing with a person (especially you  ) than the computer.

Graphics are great. So true. Haan yeh bhi nahi hota toh phir bhi mazza nahi aati… Good point my love.

Lo kar lo baat, abhi aaj hi main Priya ko kah rahi thi uska “woh” gayab hota hai, aur ab “woh” hi aaj aa gaya. :hyper: Good to see you back Jai. Kahan par rehte ho tum yaar??? Main India se wapas aa gayi aur ab tak tum gayab the! :rotfl: Anyway, glad to see that you like AOE as well. It does take a long time unless you are a pakka khiladi like Neeraj who can finish the game in one and half hour’s time fighting off three computer players simulataneously!

Aate rehna..apna blog samajte aate rehna… wait..nahi..hamara blog samajke aate rehna..khud ke blog par toh jaate hi nahi hoge! :rotfl:
