Life in Manchester, City of Hospitality

Posted on February 15th, 2005 by Poonam

Two days done in Manchester, New Hampshire. This city has about 100,000 people, and its unbelievable how friendly and hospitable the residents of this city are. Everyone, I mean, everyone says hello to you as well as when getting out of restaurants and other public places say nice things as “have a nice day” or “appreciate your business”, its just amazing. Now where I am from, the Midwest, people are known to be nice, but the east coast of the USA is not known for its politeness or hospitality. Many other states, such as New York, should really take a learning from this state.

It was snowing the first day but today it seemed that many of it was melting and getting a bit warmer. My hotel is quite nice, right in the middle city, and not too far from the office (about nine minutes). Work is going well and staying busy. The whole team (about four of us) are really nice and the facility is nice too. I am playing a major role, as I had discussed earlier, so my time goes by fast. :hyper:

Mumma is on her way home from Cincinaati right now with Papa and Bhayia. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on another company that is going to get a pounding on providing horrible customer service. :banghead: This time it was an USA based company. :grumpy: :irked:

so, you have been travelling a lot these days… great!!

BTW, which company is going to feel the heat in tomorrow’s post? :eyebrow:

  2. Mona Says:

Glad that you have good times there
Yes, I love being in smaller area, country side because usually those people are very very friendly

hmmmm seems like you encountered few bad experiences with those companies :grumpy: which company this time ? So I will remember it and will not use their service :irked:

  3. Ankur Raheja Says:

    That’s really a good attitude.
But people in India need learning too

  4. Priya Says:

thats nice yaar…and agreed NYC people sure need to learn something from thr…cos they appear to be so busy and cold like they are doing a favor to us …

That’s awesome. Did not know New Hampshire would be such a nice place. But too cold…grrr..And yes NYC people can definitely learn from it. Here in the south, people are relatively nicer. Yep travelling jhaari hai Manpreet. But its all good. Until Neeraj comes…traveling is not a problem for me. New post is up..you can check it out.

Oh I think so too Mona. Smaller cities can be quite nice and quaint. Manchester is not too big or metropolitan and not too small. Its just really perfect in size. The best thing are the people who are so very nice.

Yep another company has caused my family grief, and the new post is up.

True Ankur. Par I think it will take India much longer to learn this type of hospitality. Indians are really good with guests that come to their home but not with the regular Joe that they will meet on the streets.

You said it Priya. NY is known for their people and their attitudes. They have softened after 9/11 but still not enough. The people of NH are much nicer.

You are right Kaush, Southern hospitality is really well known around the USA. But its great to see that this ia another state that knows the meaning of hospitality. I remember being in Richmond, VA and they were quite nice there too. Ok I am waiting for your mail..actually Neeraj and I are both waiting for your mail as he has read all of the mails that you have written as well. So hope to hear from you soon! Aalas mat kar!
