OBM = Success!
Current Tune: Yeh Dosti - Sholay
Thank you everyone that joined the Online Bloggers Meet (OBM) on Saturday!
Neeraj and I just want to let you know that we had a great time and hope that you all did as well!
For those that missed it, let me tell you, it was a bloggers meet that you would have not wanted to miss.
Why? Let me just give you a flavor of what happened.
Who were there? If you go into our gallery, you will see an album with mostly all of the participants that were there but here is a rundown of the list of those that stayed for the majority of the time:
Manpreet
Ankur
Govind
Kunal
Mallika
Manish
Pareeka
Pranshu
Neeraj
Poonam
Mannat was there in the beginning with her husband, but then had to leave. Kaush popped in for a few mins and so did Sushubh and Puneet.
Where we all from?
People all around the world joined us.
Govind was on from Germany, while Neeraj, Kunal, Puneet, and Manpreet (K & M were dying of hunger throughout the meet
) were on from aamchi Mumbai. Thanks to Pareeka, who was on from Australia, where it was 2 am and in true spirit stayed on with us till the very end.
Ankur was from rape city not-the-safest-city Delhi , Mallika joined from Calcutta, Pranshu from Jamshedpur, and Manish, Mannat, Kaush, and myself from the USA.
So what did we talk about?
Well we proved the old saying wrong that Indians never start on time.
We started a half and hour early as there were enough people online. We got situated with those who had microphones and those who were going to text chat only.
Then as the people poured in, we started the introductions. We went down the list and individually each person said where they were from, how they started blogging/got associated with blogging, their age, and then open question session from the junta.
It was loads of fun with my dear Neeraj popping in and asking the personal questions such as:
Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend? Are you single? Are you married? Are you looking for someone?
![]()
Once was he stopped by Kunal who asked him,
“Neeraj, tera iraadha kya hai”?![]()
Only then to find out that he was starting the Neeraj Poonam Marriage Bureau.
There were a few of us on the microphones (Kunal, Manish, Manpreet, Neeraj, and myself), and we had a ball of time:!:
Kunal definitely knew how to create trouble between Neeraj and myself.
Every other minute you would hear someone say,
“Manish kahan gaya?”
It seems that he had taken over for Manmohan Singh as the PM, because he was so busy attending phone calls from India.
Neeraj and I also had our webcams up, which was great for those who wanted to watch the live facial expressions.
What was great was everyone had a sense of humor!
I spent most of the time laughing!
Mannat started the fun by saying that Ankur, who hadn’t joined yet, was out on a date so will be late to the meet.
Ankur got the third degree on that one.
Neeraj was getting tons of questions from the junta during his intro session, and there was Govind asking Neeraj for tips on how he had proposed to me, what steps he had taken, etc…
Pareeka did not speak too much, but when she did she would hit a sixer by making some great comments!
Then the fun started after introductions.
One by one we all talked about our deepest and darkest secrets, and let me tell you, I was amazed on how many of us opened up.
I learned so much about the others, and I think everyone learned something new about Neeraj and myself (yes, we did share a secret of our own
). I think we really learned a lot from each other’s experiences.
It was funny that so many (Manpreet, Kunal, Govind
) had not had dinner yet, and we wouldn’t let them go have it by telling them that they would miss out on the secrets.
Hilarious!!
Those that missed out, sorry but the secrets will not be revealed.
Many great love stories were also disclosed between the bloggers, which was fabulous.
Everything from love and romance to family to career were discussed.
We even had a mini Mumbai-Delhi bahas (a running argument between Manpreet and myself
)
Pranshu and Neeraj reminisced about their days at IIT (Pranshu was Neeraj’s junior
).
Mallika joined us a little later, but her story was the hit of the meet
as she was bombarded with questions:!:
Overall a great meet, and thanks to everyone for being there early and having just a great time!
It was done in all fun, and you know its a success when the junta chants for another blog meet!
Thanks everyone for being there, and hope that you will all come for the next one!
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

It was great fun Gaurav.
We missed you as well! Haan next time hum try karenge ke itni jaldi nahi ho, but you could have joined in later if you would have woken up. We were online for more than four hours!
Anyway, I didn’t understand your last question, dubara bolo?
Yup Kaush, you would have had a blast with us!
Koi baat nahi, hota hai, next time aa jaana.
Ohhh Mona.
I was wondering where you were.
But I knew that you must have had some problem, otherwise you would have definitely come.
It was a great meet and hope that next time it will work out.
Yes, I can definitely understand the not getting on the net at home becuz too much PC at work.
All the people that were on were great. We had a fantastic rapport with everyone.
You will definitely enjoy their company.
Its true Ankur. There were four rapes in 24 hours in Delhi.
For me, that’s what that city is now going to be known as, the rape-city.
I didn’t read about anything in Rajasthan, please do send me the links.
I am interested to see where in Rajasthan it happened.
As for the date, you were asked the questions, but you didn’t reply back to them.
So we understood what that meant.
Am not sure what happened Ankur, because I saw you were offline, but didn’t see you get back online. Maybe there was something wrong with the connection or you got booted out of the conference.
We were talking thru text chat because Govind, Pareeka, and others did not have a microphone. So definitely something wrong with the messenger for you.
tere kehne se bhi Delhi aacha nahi ho jaayega.
Not sure what happened with Ankur. Hopefully he will be able to stay longer next time.
Thanks Kunal for the compliment.
I did put some description of my own on the pics.
Ya that’s bad Ankur. I am not sure why that happened.
Anyway, I will send the transcript to all that joined.
You got it Manpreet.
Koi baat nahi Mannat. Hota hai.
Hopefully next time, we you will be able to stay longer.
We missed you during the second half of the meet. You would have really enjoyed.
Yes Ankur should have told us.
Awww Prasad.
I had left a message for you on your Yahoo messenger ID, but it seems that you were not even close to your PC.
No problem, we shall do it again. You would have had lots of fun at the meet.
Definitely next time, you can join us.
Will surely reserve a spot for you in the photos.
May 16th, 2005 at 12:04 pm

Waise bhi Pyaar kiya toh darna kya:rotfl:!!
May 16th, 2005 at 3:56 pm
Juntaa it was real success, enjoyed the OBM a lot. Credit goes to our gang leader “Poonam” obviously. It was fun. :)
Anyways, its Hyderabad which rocks!!. Forget about “Bombay” or “Delhi”. They cant even compare. :D
“Waise bhi Pyaar kiya toh darna kya”
May 16th, 2005 at 3:59 pm
Yeh kya, my comment is nt showing up fully.
“Waise bhi Pyaar kiya toh darna kya”
May 16th, 2005 at 4:01 pm
Spamming.. :p
You seem to be not accepting saying it right. I wrote Neeraj said it right. :D
May 16th, 2005 at 4:25 pm
bilkul sahi kahan Neeraj ne he was the who started this secret thing and then alot of ppl came out with alot of things to share like govind and mallika(a lot new lovestories came to light though not much in detail but yes gotta good idea ).. and Kunal bhaiya i donot agree with you that Poonam was dominating Neeraj on Voicechat .. it was just sometimes Neeraj was not able to understand the things as he dont know abt ppl as much as Poonam know so she was explaining things to Neeraj.. and I wont call it dominating.. and Poonam ji I totally agree ke 4 rape hue in 24 hrs (jo ki news mein aaye .. mite be 40 hue hoon and baki 36 news hi mein naa aaye ho).. But just because calling a city with that name is not fair.. after all that is our capital.. pls hamare sentiments ka to khayal rakho :) …..
i totally agree ke law and order is not up to mark in India.. but ab police bhi har ladki ke saath to nahi chal sakti naa unki protection ke liye and but yes strict and fast action against these criminals would atleast make some terror in the minds of these ppl ..and these bastards should understand what type of mental torture it is for the person who face the rape and law should give these inhuman characters aasan nahi totally brutal and inhuman death punishment (have a couple of them in my mind will put sometime on my blog) .. Then prevention is better than cure so girls should be educated for self defence if they ever face this kinda situation.. i moved away from the topic.. bhaiya dil par lag gayi .. capital city ka aisa naam sun ke :) .. ab ka karen aise hi hain hum :D
waise organising OBM was a very great work by Manpreet & Poonam .. and both stayed till all 4.5 hours.. good organisers and dono ko 100% marks diye jaate hain ,it was wonderful , successful OBM.. and hope to see more in future .. :)
baki kaafi logon ki taang kheechi gayi .. taang khechne walon mein sabse aagey Kunal(hope aapka daanto ka dard jaldi theek ho jaye.. ) , Manpreet ,Neeraj , Poonam , govind and pareeka (Poonam rightly said Pareeka spoke less but jab bhi bolti to sixer maarti thi )
Abt pictures some ppl promised that they will send pictures by Monday i think havent kept their promise as i cannot see the pics in the Poonam’s site
mere khayal mein mera ishara kiski taraf hai usko pata chal gaya and rest who came to OBM that day pls send their pictures to np@neerajpoonam.com so that Poonam can place them in the respective place ..
shabba khair
May 16th, 2005 at 9:08 pm
Seems like I missed it
Next time may be…:yes::yes:
May 16th, 2005 at 11:03 pm
Sahi hai Neeru dear.
Pyaar kiya toh kya darna.
Thanks Govind.
Many thanks to my partner in crime, Manpreete.
He got the word out which made this a great success! And then to all that came.
Really it was a great time:!:
Hyderabad???
Usko kahan laa rahe ho beech main..main toh kehti hoon north yaa south..east yaa west..Mumbai is the very best.
Thanks Manish.
Main dominate nahi kar rahi thi..par yeh Kunal ko bas masti hi karni hai yeh keh ke.
Khair baccha khush hota hai bol ke toh bolne deo.
Aapka comment padke bahut mahsoos hua ke shayad kuch jyaada hi kah diya, aakhir main capital city hai, isliya phir maine thoda change kar diya…sahi hai ab?
Waise main kehti bhi nahi hoon ke police har ladki ke saath chale. Even in the US, police har ladki ke saath nahi chalti but phir bhi ladkiyan yahan par safe mahsoos karti hai. Main chahti hoon ke India main bhi aaisa ho, ladkiyan ko safe mahsoos karna chaiye. Even in the Dhaula Kuan case, woh ladkiyan raat ke 2 baje bahar the…very stupid naa? Par police ko action jaldi lena chaiye aur sazza aur tougher honi chaiye. Yeh do kaam honge, definitely aur change hoga. Ladkon ko change karna bahut difficult hoga aur time bhi laga.
Sahi kaha hai…photos jarur bhejo humein!
A request to all that attended.
Aaww Madhu.
Hope that you are able to come to the next one.
May 17th, 2005 at 12:10 am
manish, i was just kidding abt Poonam dominating Neeraj (though it is true hehe)…
police cannot be with every girl agreed on that but atleast they can take proper action once a case is registered… just read newspaper n u will read that all of them are left scott free since they pay the cops enuf to keep shut… now if the cops stop doing that n they do arrest the guilty they will b sending a warning to ppl that hey back off if u r caught u r in real trouble…
i sometime wonder what can be done so that the law n order in this country improves… every other govt official accepts bribes… how the hell will the country prosper ? and mind u some of the ppl who accept bribes are all literate ppl i mean like IAS officers just imaging them doing such acts what can u expect of a local cop…
ok this is totally out of context of this topic… so i shall stop n o yeah OBM ROCKED !!! :)
have a nice day….
May 17th, 2005 at 4:40 am

grrrr!!!! I missed it…it must have been fun and to get to know people who are so interesting in their own ways is the best thing for the human kind ;)…..I missed it…ur blog on it has made me realise my pangs for another one such meet…what say guys?
Poonam, please do initiate another one like this…
hey! I had a blast in Cedar point and I also went to this place called ‘Kelly’s Island’ and we rode bicycle there…and I was almost close to being in heaven…:) it was amazing…
May 17th, 2005 at 9:33 am
Totally agree with you on this matter. Something really needs to be done and the government will have to get involved. If only we had some political contacts of our own, we could write a petition or letter or something.
Let’s hope that there are other people (who might have political contact) out there that also read the newspapers and are thinking the same as we are, and can take some action.
No prizes Puneet.
Maybe we can do something for the next meet.
If you can send me your photo, I will put it up in the gallery. Thanks!
Good to hear Indu that you had a great time at Cedar Point.
You would have really enjoyed the meet, but don’t worry we shall definitely organize another one really soon. Maybe sometime in June??
Let’s see what the junta has to say.
