What’s Your Religion?
So after yesterday’s post about the email hacking, I thought I would go ahead and share the story on how Neeraj tried to hack into my email account.
It had to been just about two months since we had been chatting back in Feb-March 2001, when this incident occurred. To set the scene, Neeraj was studying in IIT Kanpur during that time, and I was also studying here in college in the US. Due to the time difference, Neeraj would stay up quite late during the night so that we could chat. Of course, our chatting would not be an hour or two, we would chat for a continous four to six hours.
So we were chatting on one faithful night on a topic about guys and girls or something, when out of the blue, Neeraj said:
What’s your religion?
Now I looked at the computer screen surprised.
First, why was he asking me in English (we always chatted in Hindi — to this day
), and second, why would he ask me my religion, he knows that I am Hindu.
So I was so confused and asked him why are you asking. After some hesitation, he said that he just wanted to know and to give him an answer.
So I gave him the answer:
“Hinduism”
He replies back and says:
“I tried that. That’s not it.”
Ok now I was really confused, but the wheels in my mind began to turn as well. Then I began to think what caused him to ask me this question. At that time I had an email address with excite.com, so I went to the email account and found out what my “Forget My Password” Question was, and that’s where I found:
What’s your religion?
I went back to Neeraj and asked him if he was trying to hack into my email account, and he said yes.
But see I am a clever one, because the answer to the question had something to do with Hinduism but it wasn’t that word specifically.
Then I had some fun with Neeraj and let him try and try to hack it, but he couldn’t.
Finally I asked him why he was so eager and curious to see my mails (Mind you that I had only known him for about two months. We had made no committment, heck, I didn’t even know what he looked like
).
He said:
Main dekhna chahta hoon ke tum aur log ke saath kaise baatein karti ho
I want to know how you talk/interact with others. I was very reluctant on giving him my email password, but something within me knew that this guy wasn’t going to take advantage of me. So I asked for his password as well to his IITK email account.
He gave me his email password, and since that day forward we have never hid anything from each other.
Aakhir main yehi saccha pyaar hai.
And now you know…the rest of the story.
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

When first I knew Suhadi, I was curious about him too … hacking the email … hmm it’s really brilliant idea hahaha
Both of you are really a sweet couple … I can feel that you love each others very much. I can’t wait to see both of you being together and get married.
