Apartments, Laptops, Visa Stamping

Posted on July 31st, 2005 by Poonam

Yes, I said that in my last post that I would re-write a post that I had written on women liberation, but I don’t have the hosh and josh at this moment to rewrite all of my thoughts. So I am going off on another tangent and just speak about the coming days.

Weekend has been alright, it always could have been better. I had scheduled some appointments to view apartments in my city with my best friend, Beth, so we did that on Saturday afternoon. The apartment hunting is for Neeraj, and the two that we looked at were quite bigger than I expected. They had a sitting room + bedroom which also had a full bath and kitchen. The first one that we checked out I liked better, but it was more expensive (439 dollars per month) compared to the second one which Beth liked better (400 bucks). The second one had a smaller bathroom, no AC in the bedroom, and older kitchen appliances. Location of both were decent. So the search will continue as I have three more appointments in the next week.

Monday morning I am off to Chicago for a two day meeting/training thing. I am going to drop off my laptop at our office’s computer support place so that they can fix my mouse that has been hounding me for the past six months. :irked: I will be staying downtown and the meeting/training is in our hotel’s conference rooms only. The office, where I need to drop off the laptop, is also just two minutes from the hotel, so it shouldn’t be an issue. You may not hear from me/see me online until Tuesday night (I may not get the laptop until Tuesday afternoon then got to drive home).

Neeraj is at the US Consulate as we speak. His passport has dried so he has gone for his visa stamp again. Rain in Mumbai continues this morning there, but this time he’s on the third floor staying with a few guys who had helped him on that nightmareish Tuesday. If the trains are operating correctly, then he will be on the train Monday night to his home.

Have some tennis action going on Wednesday with some friends, and then the apartment hunting of course will continue. I am also searching around for a laptop for Neeraj. I have decided on Dell because its reliability, and the wonderful discount that I get from my job. I want to order it by Wednesday to ensure that its here by next week when Neeraj comes.

So that’s that — in a nutshell. Rain is nowhere in sight here, but I hope we do it get for the sake of the farmers.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

Yup Vivek..it would definitely be hard when you are coming, and you may not know someone..but Neeraj has got me..so no tension. Sab kuch bana banaya mil jaayega.

Yes Puneet he did go to the Consulate only to find the same thing as you said that it was closed. Took him two hours to get back to Powai. Anyway, let’s hope that it is open tomorrow. I will suggest to Neeraj to try to listen to the radio before he goes. Which newspaper did you read? Would it be on the net, like closings and all?

Yup Satya, slowly but surely we are getting ready. Yes, he was suppose to leave today from Mumbai but with the Consulate being closed his work wasn’t completed. He will stay tomorrow and hopefully the Consulate will be open, and also the trains will be running.

Oh wow…too much to do. Neeraj must be so excited. Is his apt. going to be close to where you live? I am sure that would make things easier and simpler for both of you.
Well keep hunting for the apt and I am sure soon you will land up on the one you would want to get.
Rain?? I have literally forgotten what rain looks like. We have had the longest stretch of this dry weather here in midwest.. The farmers sure are in need of some rain.
