Drive, Garba, But Need to Design
Well today we had sought out to do three things:
Morning started off not in the greatest foot. We needed to get to this other town, Roanoke, because it was the easiest place to get your driver’s license. Neeraj was going to give a written test then a road test. First we got kinda lost (thanks alot Googe Maps & randmcnally.com
), but after reaching the facility, I noticed that it said that you need to bring your proof of insurance. So we headed back to the car only to find out that I didn’t have the insurance card.
So we had to head back home (30-45 min drive), get on the PC and print out another insurance card.
We got back to the driving facility around 2.20 pm (they only give road tests till 4.30 pm) to find out that there are 8 people ahead of us with only one clerk serving. Finally our turn came, we gave her all of the photo identification that she wanted, and she told Neeraj that she would take his vision screening. His eyesight is really good so he passed that with no issues. Then the written test.
Neeraj passed the written test at 88% (missed 4 questions). Now we are ready for the road test. So the lady takes him outside and soon they are back in five mins.
What happened?
My stupid car has a stupid crack on the stupid windsheild and hence he was unable to take the test.
More and more reason to get a new car (that’s what I keep telling myself and then I check my bank account and come back to reality
). So now Neeraj is going to practice on Bhayia’s car this week, and we will go back on Friday.
So it was a long day and by the time we reached home it was around 4.30 pm. We relaxed for a while and weren’t in the mood to get into designing the invitations, so watched some TV instead.
Then soon the time flew Bhayia came, then Neeraj and I went to practice his driving in Bhayia’s car, dinner, and time to get ready for garba.
Garba has been enjoyable as Neeraj is slowly but surely catching on very quickly.
Everbody in the mandir adores Neeraj, and I love it. Auntys come up to me and say:
Poonam you have made a great choice. He is a great boy — you can just tell by his face. So sober.

Sure does make me feel good that our community really likes him.
So now its 1.45 am and Neeraj is taking his practice Java test, and I am trying to design our invitations. But unfortunately since my laptop hard drive died last week, the new drive doesn’t seem to have Adobe Photoshop. I need to find the CD in my room (which is a mess!!!!).
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

Hiya.. congratulations !! ..you will have a great day and i am sure Neeraj will pass out the driving test with flying colors :)
i would love to see the design you select for your invite.. will you post it once you have designed it??

hey bhagvaan..so much jhanjhat for the drivers license! Its the same here! 100 people and like two clerks working. DMV does need to get more people in there and peoplewho are nice!..anyways Neeraj will do fine nonetheless.
thats the sweetest things :)Maybe Neeraj can convince everyone at mandir to have garba for ALL nine days next year:yes:
And how cute!!! Aunties coming up to you and telling you that
Yea and I would also love to see the design you select! :)

Same reaction as Kaush’s - itni mehanat for a driver’s licence…sigh! India is so better ;) u just pay off the ubiquitous broker outside any RTO and lo, ek ghante mein licence aapke haath mein :P
Anyways, all the best to Neeraj for the test…
…and yeah, humein bhi designs dikhana kaise bane…(see, nice oblique way of saying ke invite kar lena :P not that i can ever come over there, and sigh! ticket ke liye toh Manpreet and kaushie pahle hi line mein lage hue hai ;) ) Take care…

yup.. absoultely DJ.. its so easy to get a licence in india… if you can shell out money.. you can easily get anything in India… Mera Bharat desh hai Mahaan! :)
u are designing inivitations urself?? sahi hai!! do share the designs with all of us!! btw, if u don’t get photoshop cd, p2p softwares are always there for ur help!!
And dj, good to see that humein dekh ke ticket ke competitors pehle hi ghutne tek dete hain :p

hey!!!
Looks like, Lotsa stuff is happening at your side..
It’s good to see Neeraj settling down in Amreeka.
Designing invitations all by yourself sounds sooo cool. Do post ‘em once you get done with the designing and all that jazz.
shine on girl!!

Areee poonamji get me the visas i will arrange for the tix :P
its so damn diff to find the right engagement ring btw ! i been breaking my head on it for a week now… its good both of u there so u both can decide on the spot…
another hurdle selecting dresses to be given to her… o man thats one hell of a job with 100000000000 varieties available… Neeraj u r safe trust me not hving to make these choices alone :P and girls its so simple to shop for guys i think !!!
October 16th, 2005 at 3:36 am
arrre Kunal..ladko ke liye shopping is also a hassle! pehle toh there are so FEW choices to begin with ke kuch alag lena ho toh le hi nahi sakte. With girls, there are soo many more choices to buy from! But I agree, since Poonam and Neeraj are together, shopping easy ho jaayegi :)

Every Indian Thinks Alike… the first word that came to my mind was ‘jhanjhat’
Designing Cards…
October 16th, 2005 at 1:33 pm
like everyones said all things coming to my mind as i was reading thru.. :) i think im beginning to like indian bureaucracy.. jitne employees indian govt support kati hai.. around utne hi agents har office ke bahar hum citizens support karte hai..!!
and hey, im sure the design sure will find a place here.. ((plss plss plss..))
@Kaush.. why do wanna do anything different when choosing clothes for a man.. arrey its the easiest ((and also in the best interest..)) to keep a man as he is.. just the reason why the designers dont bother much about the male species..
@Poonam.. in ur previous post.. id commented as shreyas.. i guess u did not recognise Me.. by that name..

oh…the rules r really strict out there…shud be that way. here ppl can even try to buy God with their money, such is the attitude! i just got a learner’s license a month back and it was such a bother! haan ye alag baat hai ki main gadi pichle teen saal se chala rahi hoon!
yahan ki police ladkiyon ko pakadti hi nahin hai kabhi!!
good luck with the designs!!

I thought it was cute too Kaush.
It made me feel really good that everyone has accepted Neeraj so easily.
DMV people are just like the US Embassy and Passport ppl — bad attitude.
Thanks Deepak for the wishes. As for the invitation, koi oblique way main nahi kehna padta…invitation toh mil jaayega.
We shall surely show once we are done.
Yup Manpreet we have designed it ourselves. Neeraj and I have worked hard on it this weekend, but still working on the words.
Thanks Ash dear.
Hope all is well with you. Shall show you the design once completed.
Actually Kunal I am not very fussy at all when it comes to clothes. Neeraj and I are both quite easy to buy for because we are very easy going in this matter. We haven’t gone engagement ring shopping yet — but Neeraj and I had gone ring shopping once previously in Jaipur when he bought one for me for my bday, but that only took one hour to decide.
It is always easier when you are together.
Agree with Kaush. Shall also update the “About Us” section, thanks for the reminder!
Why did you think I didn’t recognize you Shreyas??
I did, I knew it was you.
Shall show you the design very soon.
Thanks Vicky for coming to our site and nice words. I hope that you come back and keep commenting.

What a story … sometimes when I read your story and Neeraj, it reminds me of myself and Suhadi … We especially Suhadi is always facing some obstacles before getting something … For example his PR, etc Even last time when he took his driving test, he failed. But I believe Neeraj will be doing fine
There are too many obstacles, aren’t there ?
Woww, designing the invitation card … that will be very lovely :) I wish I could come to your big day ….
By the way, I am really happy … I really want to watch the show, Koffee with Karan. and Few days back, I watched the tv, they will start showing this show on November. I am really excited and can’t wait to watch the show

We have so much in common Mona dear:!:
I hope that we can meet someday. I hope that you and Suhadi will come to our wedding in India. We will have a blast! Hope all is well with you.
