Thank yous, Xmas Shopping & Songs
Many Many Many Thanks to all that gave me birthday wishes on my special day!
First I would like to thank my dear sweet Neeraj for being with me till midnight (even though I fell asleep
), and being the first one to wish me on my day:!: Then for giving me such a sweet post — wakai main Neeraj jaise kehte ho waise hi karte ho.
Thank you very much my love — without you I am nothing. I am very happy to be able to see you every single day.

Had to work on my birthday. I left early and got home around 5 pm. Then waited for Bhayia to return from work, opened my gifts, and then went to dinner with Bhayia and Neeraj to Olive Garden, an Italian restaurant.
Then came home, tried to cut the cake but all of the relatives were calling, so kept getting interrupted. Finally was able to cut the cake and spent the rest of the evening relaxing with my love.
Overall a wonderful birthday!! Thank you once again to you all for thinking of me on this day!
Christmas Shopping and Songs
Christmas shopping has been a bit tough this time trying to find gifts for my family, also Secret Santa (which we are doing with my cousins), for Neeraj, and for my two friends, Diane and Beth. Its taken me about two weeks to get everything done, but still I have part of Diane’s present left.
Neeraj and I will finish that up tomorrow.
I really enjoy this time of the year because its just so cheerful. Along with that, I love listening to Christmas music like Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, Let it Snow, etc… But in fact many of these Christmas songs are offensive to some of my non-Christian friends because it refers to Jesus Chris being the Lord or their Savior. They sometimes wonder why I am not offended, should I be?
Are you offended as a non-Christian? I think Hinduism is quite open in the fact that Jesus Christ was an avatar. Bhagwan us roop main bhi aaye hain is dharti par — so there really isn’t a reason to take it seriously. But along with that, have you noticed that is the only time throughout the year where you will see signs such as “Peace on Earth” or “Seasons Greetings”? Interesting isn’t it? Does that mean that we wish this only during this time of the year?
Sometimes it sure does seem like it (atleast in the US):!:
More news on the way and b’day wishes. Neeraj has a second round interview in St. Louis, MO (another state — about three hours from our home), so we will be traveling on Friday. I am going to be off from work starting Friday until January 3rd. So it will be nice to spend lots of time with Neeraj.
Looking forward to it. Don’t forget to wish Neeraj all the best:!:
Look for an update very soon.
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

So glad to know that you had a really wonderful birthday! Yeh padh kar I can imagine how nice it is to spend your birthday with your loved one :) I did that once!
And I have always planned to go to Olive Garden par har waqt kuch na kuch gadbad hoti hai..heard lots of good things about it. And about being offended? No, not really. I think Hinduism is a pretty tolerant religion and we believe that there is one god in different avatars like you said. So we let others believe what they think is their god and move on with it and there is not much conflict. Personally, christmas reminds me of diwali in india! The same fervour, shopping, lights, decorations! I love the jolly atmosphere everywhere :)

seems u’ve enjoyed ur b’day well.. gud to know tht.:)
hmm.. christmas have always been spl time for us here too… I jus love the carols… and u know i’ve sung carols like Silent Night, While shepherds, Jingle bells… and many others for christmas during my childhood days.. till my 10th..
we used to go to all the friends house as a gang with a Santa and sing carols till 2am for atleast 2-3 nights during Christmas… those days were really great…
This answers ur second part of the post… i mean being a Hindu, i never felt i should not celebrate other festivals.. i jus love to spend christmas as i spend other festivals…
What i love is being together with friends n family on any gud day…
and Neeraj, all the best for ur interview… do well… and come out with flying colors.. :)

Good to hear your thoughts on Christmas songs, etc… I love this time of year as well!
I am very surprised to hear Prasad that you used to go caroling in India. I didn’t think that people would really get into the Christmas spirit because many of them wouldn’t be celebrating. But that is really great that you and your friends would go out singing like that! I am really impressed.
I love singing carols as well that’s why I don’t get offended. Its not like I am singing anything bad, and so there really isn’t a reason to be upset about it.
Thanks Ankur.
Tumhari swagat kab karenge??
Tumhari shaadi ki baad, right?
Didn’t get your messages Kunal saab.
Actually sometimes I am online but Neeraj is on the laptop, so that is what might have happened. Christmas shopping is the best:!:
Login/pwd is going to stay for a while atleast — until we get married. Yes, I said until engagement, but until we are married, we are going to wait.
Thanks Indu — on Neeraj’s behalf.
Happy Holidays!
Thanks Kaush — on Neeraj’s behalf.

I guess it’s one of my favourite celebration. I love the atmosphere, songs, decorations, etc. It seems so peaceful and cheerful in the same time :) Christmas shopping is great but sometimes a bit confusing too when you need to choose a lot of presents
Wish you the best Neeraj for the interview !

u know the reason is Kerala has lots of Christian population too, so we do have Christian family friends too..
In Kerala, we all celebrate Onam (though its a Hindu festival) together and the same way, we also celebrate Christmas together.. Infact, we used to hang stars outside our house house, Santa used to come to our house too and sing carols (i used to be a part of this carol party in one of the associations) We used to have nice time…
All colleges n schools will be closed for a week for Onam n Christmas in Kerala.
