Mera Rang De Basanti Chola..

So the awaited — I finally saw Rang De Basanti. It definitely left me speechless. From a technical aspect, it was great acting by each and every character in the movie. You hated the politician, and felt a part of the 5-6 friends that ran around together.

Rang De Basanti -- must watch movie

There are some real nice truths that come out of the movie: aaj ki youth ko apne desh par umeed nahi chodni chaiye. If you feel that our country is not to its par, then something should be done about it — take part in the system to change the system. We all know that life would be very different if the revolutionists of our country had not fought for our independence. Now that we have achieved that, we have to fight the next big horror that faces our desh — corruption.

The young people of today may think what they are able to do? The movie gives you some examples, but one of the first things that come into my mind is to vote. Its the people who elect who goes into office — vote responsibly and get the word out to the public on who should be the best person for the job.

Dekhne se toh laga ke desh-bhakti mere andar main ki bhi jaag gayi hai. Desh-bhakti hamesha mere dil main raha hai — aaisi baat nahi hai ke movie ki wajah se hua hai, par dekh ke mere dil ko chuu diya hai. Neeraj and I have already plans on what we would like to do for the country -helping the poor with a type of welfare system. First starting a smaller portion of the city, if reaching success, then going forward and taking bigger steps.

Its tough to say whether you should take the law in your hands, like it was done by these friends in the movie, but yes action needs to be taken. There is always strength in numbers — jitna jyaada junta ko saath karogai utna jyaada majbooth tum banogai.

Aaj ke liye bahut ho gaya. But it was really a great movie — as was Yuva which was similar in the means of the matter of the youth. More movies like these are needed in India — its just another creative way to get your point made. I hope that young adults take it not as a movie — but take the message.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

  7. Indu says:

It is a great movie……grew slowly in me…like Swades…..and the next best part was ARR’s music…expecially ‘Luka Chuppi’…such a heartful rendering of the song by Latha ji and ARR……

  8. Ankur Raheja says:

Koi Gal Nahin…. Deepakji – there’s always next time :D

  9. mehak says:

    Liked the movie….grt songs

  10. kaush says:

The characters and the story and even the message up to an extent was great. However, I did not agree with the end of the movie. The parallels that the director runs between Bhagat Singh’s group and these youngsters was great and worth an applause but somehow, the end did not leave an impression. It left a lasting effect about the overall message for the youth but not that much as a movie.
I agree wholeheartedly that todays youth can do so much for India. Like you said, vote, help with welfare system, and more, but just did not agree with how the movie turns in the end. Anyways discussion can go on forever.
Would just like toquote Mahatma Gandhiji – “Be the change you want to see in this world.” :-)
Interestingly, B called this morning and said he had to go get some deal done with govt officials and he was so frustrated with their corruption and work that he wanted to teach them a lesson, but knew that he alone couldnt win against the system . ….so frustrated he was that he said he would readily join a youth political party that was not so corrupt! Just happened yesterday! The corruption in apna des is like a virus infested in every capillary and vein and artery of the body…:duh:

Saw the pictures VERY NICE  Bade ache ache presents mile honge! Shaadi karne ka yeh faayda…you get loads of gifts and money! :-D

Kaush…. even in such matters there is Media to help.

Sansani at Star News has exposed over 100 govt officials, who were all caught on camera while taking bribes and that includes IAS officers even

  13. kaush says:

Ankur ya..actually even B mentioned ke he felt like taking sneak videos of these officials and getting them caught. Woh baat bhi sahi hai tumhaari.

  28. Poonam says:

Thanks Deepak. I read your review on your blog on the movie. Interesting thoughts…but I don’t agree.  One is entitled to its own opinion.

Yes you are right Ankur.

You are right Harry. Totally agree:!:

It grew on me on the first time Indu. I didn’t find Swades to be slow moving — but maybe its becuz I like those type of movies.

    Yup Mehak.

Why didn’t you like the end of the movie Kaush? Don’t tell me its because they all die, is it?? I agree on the parallels with Bhagat Singh — that was really great. Mostly today’s youth would say that something that happened so long ago — how are we able to relate to that? But I think they did a great job on that:!:

Interesting abt. B. Is he really going to take any action or no? Thanks abt. the photos. Yup, gifts toh mile hi hain — shaadi karo, pata chalega.

    Totally right Prasad.

Wow Manpreet :!: I am impressed. I got a mail from your friend and have replied — hopefully to what she is looking for. Thanks abt. the photos. But you are known as the King of Spam. Baap of all Spammers. Maharaja of Spammers!

Ending was dramatic Anat. Interesting — did you think that it wasn’t possible? I think maybe it is possible that it was a bit dramatic, but I still think that it is realistic.

That is true, Ankur learned spamming from Manpreet.

Kaush tune bhi join kar diya hai spamming main?  Karo bhi aish karo.

  29. Hindustani says:

I thought the movie was the greatest patriotic movie i ever saw. But it wasn’t really patriotic if you think abt it. Its based on the corruption and other bad things in india. I mean our country is really good. Even after all these corruption and bribes and all that,we have some good rankings in the world. So if we are able to remove corruption, there is no doubt that we will have good future. Another thing is we are (youths) the ones who can do it. Cuz older people are just so conservative and blindfaithed or whatever. Make our own army. Mission “Change India”. Like it???
