So 9th March at 8.30 am, Neeraj’s parents had their US embassy interview for the US tourist visa. We reached Old Delhi station very late (our train was late) from Jaipur on the night of the 8th. My mausaji came and picked us up, and we stayed @ their place.

On 9th morning as we headed to the embassy, I noticed that Neeraj seemed very uncomfortable, but when I asked, he didn’t say anything. Then we dropped his parents off at the embassy, and because it was so early there was no dukaan wukaan open for any coffee or tea. So one of our relatives lives in the Air India colony, so we dropped over @ their house for some tea. We stayed there until for a good hour and half, and then we thought we should go back because Neeraj’s parents interview must be done by now. We reached back, and Neeraj’s parents were already outside waiting for us with the good news that they had gotten the visa.

So we picked them up and headed back to my masi’s house. We had lunch, and then soon after it was time for Neeraj’s parents train back to Hindaun. As we headed to the station, Neeraj again looked uncomfortable only to find out that he was having a stomach problem. The night before in the train to Delhi, we were in the 2nd AC dabba, and we had gotten dinner. The dinner was soo bad, you wouldn’t believe:!: :irked: There was roti, dahi (yogurt), rice, daal, and this lockey ki sabzi. Neeraj had told me to not have the sabzi because it was too spicy. He went ahead and ate it because as he says, he has an “Indian” stomach, and I have an “American” stomach. :grumpy: So I said, suit yourself, and I didn’t eat it. Well guess what, Neeraj had diaharrea because of that sabzi:!: Guess whose stomach has turned “American”.

After dropping his parents off @ the train station at Nizamuddin, we went home, and Neeraj spent the rest of day and evening in the bathroom. Yep, he had it that bad. Poor guy was in bad shape. I gave him all of my different medicines from Pepcid AC to Aleve to Imodium (the diaharrea medicine). In the night he felt a bit better, but then the next morning, he was feeling much better. He was pretty weak but it was alright.

We told him to rest up because we were heading to Kolkata the day after for his college friend’s wedding. The night we were leaving for Kolkata, our Spicejet flight got delayed four hours! Only to find out later that there was a hijack scare in Kolkata that day which caused the delay. Because of the delay we spent the majority of the evening in Delhi where we should have been in Kolkata enjoying their mehendi ki raat. Many of Neeraj’s friends were traveling with us on the same flight, so we were all in the same boat.

We eventually reached Kolkata at midnight, with a person there waitiing to take us to Neeraj’s friend’s house. It was going to my first time in Kolkata……interesting place, that’s all I can say.

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

Oh my! looks like you touched every corner of India… from Jaipur to Bombay to Delhi to Calcutta. When are you going to post some pictures?? :-)

I agree… photos would be nice.

so how long does “one hour photo” take in India if the Visa cards take two hours?

Process of putting up photos in Yahoo Joy. I am almost done and shall send you the link.

As the concept of “10 minutes” exist in India Beth, that is the same as “1 hour photo”. 1 hour photo takes atleast 24 hours because usually they have some excuse ready as “our machine stopped working” or “we will have these ready for you tomorrow because we have too much workload” or “we are short staffed today”, etc…. Its sad but true. :irked:

    Cal visit…waiting to read more…

Poonam, flt delays is a COMMON phenomena here…esp with Low Cost Airlines…OUR airports are not big enuff to handle all the traffic plus these aircrafts fly to various destinations daily….so the delays are like taken for granted now.
