Its been long since I posted….I know I know.
The last week at work was really busy with me tryiing oust multiple fires at one time.
Then the weekend comes, and Neeraj and I try to catch up on all the things we had said we would do during the week.
So finally I have put up our house photos, but you will have to ask me for the link. So if I have already not sent you the link to where they are stored (they are somewhere else other than this site), then send me a quick email or IM, and it will soon be in your inbox.
We had our house inspection today, and there were only two minor things noticed by the inspector. So we will talk to our agent tomorrow, and get that back to the sellers’ to fix.
As you may have known, I had gotten a new phone when I was in India in March. At that time I had asked Neeraj if he also wanted to get one in India, but he said no.
He wanted to get a PDA phone, like Palm Treo or Blackberry in the US. So I said okay, we will wait until our contract is up in August/September of this year to get you a new phone, and until then, you should research what you want to get.
Neeraj did some research, and then two weeks back we had gone to this mall that has a store that we don’t visit often. I had some work that I needed to do so I told Neeraj that we will meet back in about 10 minutes. I called him to find out where he was, and I found out that he was at that store (the one that we don’t visit that often).
So I went in, found him, and asked what he was looking at — and he says to me, “I think I found it.” I asked him, “What did you find?”, and he says, “My new phone. ”
So we both played around that phone for a while, and I kept asking if it had all the features we both wanted (ability to use calendar quickly, have a stylus or way to write down stuff in the phone, email and web capabilities, etc..). He showed me all the different things it could do; you could even store music.
Being me, I wanted to be convinced totally.
So we went down to the AT&T store on the first floor and took a hard try on all of the other phones that Neeraj said that he wanted (Blackberry and all its versions, and Palm Treo and its versions).
At the end, he liked the phone that he saw first. So last Saturday we finally bought it, and I would have to say this is the first time this company has finally made a decent product
We both have so far been very happy for what we have paid for – and yes, we paid a handful.
So which phone was it? Guesses? I bet you know by now.
You darn smart people. ![]()
Yes, it is…………….
the iPhone.

Now if you know me well, you may already know that I hate Apple.
I refuse to buy anything that is associated with Apple, and I am more comfortable using Microsoft products any day. I have used Apple for years, so I have many reasons that I don’t like it which is a different discussion, a different post.
But this is the first time I felt that they have made a good product, that will boost their other products as well (if they market it well
).
Just like any other phone, there are some good and bad points to it, but overall it does what we want it to do, and in fact, does it better than the Blackberry or Palm Treo would have done for us. The reasons behind this is simple.
The iPhone is all touch screen based, that means no stylus. It has a built in iPod which is great, we have one thing to do both purposes.
We are able to integrate with both of our Gmail accounts, and any other email account of our choice, in order to check mail on the phone, which has come very handy to us.
You can turn the phone sideways in order to have a widescreen view of a web page or your photos. The calendar and to-do lists are easy to use, and the on-screen keyboard is easier than we thought it would be.
Just today I had read somewhere that a 17 year old spent all summer long at his place in NJ to hack the iPhone so that he is able to use it with another carrier, other than the exclusive currently with AT&T. He was successful by breaking open the phone and doing other crap in order to get it to work on T-Mobile.
So there you have it… Neeraj has a new phone, and I, and my Nokia n73, are departing each other for a while.
Why? Well because I have to send it back to India, so that my cousin in Mumbai is able to take it to the nearest Nokia dealer. I have been facing an issue for the last few weeks which has gotten worse. After I would have gotten or made a few calls, if I get another call or call someone, then they are not able to hear my voice. Then I have to switch off the phone, and turn it on again for it to work normally. Its quite annoying and very random, so you don’t know when it will happen. So its still under warranty, and I want a Nokia dealer (my warranty is not international
) in India to look at it and get it fixed for me.
That’s all for now.
Alvida. Jai Mata Di.
wah! poonamji, naya phone, naya ghar… badiya hai! congrats!
Iphone indeed is a good gadget. i have been waiting for apple to launch it here in india. but as per reports i guess its gonna take some time.
btw, send in the link for your house photos to me as well :)
I think its all about timing Manpreet. Really I didn’t think that all of this will happen at the same time.
But I guess it happens when we least expect it.
I am just happy with what Mata Rani is giving…we are very grateful.
WOW! the pics are fab!!!! Love your place…now you guys need to invite us for the house warming party :)
iPhone….sahi hai Neeraj….few shops in Heera Panna Bombay claim to break the iphone lock & all….but then GPRS is still not affordable for me here in India…so iPhone is still a distant dream….But, looks sleek & stylish.
Ab jaldi jaldi update karna.
Damn naya ghar naya phone NP ki toh aish hai! You know its funny B and I were just talking about Iphone and nokia but the new n75. I like that phone. I also checked out an iphone recently LOVED how slim it feels in the hand and its just ubercool with all the features that it has! Awesome phone hai!
Loved the house! Aur tujhe hardwoord floors nahi pasand? I LOVE hardwood floors..mumma ko nahi pasand so she has carpet in the one room that has hardwood in our house….bache hone do and let them spill and bring in dirty playset shoes :P then you will LOVE them hahaha just kidding.
Sahi hai fir…btw mera bhi ab at and t ho gaya hai like it so much better than old stupid suncom!
whens the house warming party!
You are always invited Ektaran.
Housewarming party ki kya jaroorat hai…kabhi bhi aa sakte ho.
So when are you coming?
Yes you are right in regards to the GPRS being expensive. In the past year, unlimited data transfer plans have come out to be affordable. For the iPhone the unlimited data transfer plan is less than for the Blackberry or Palm Treo:!: It was just too good of a deal.
Nahi yaar…mere ko hardwood itna nahi pasand hai, only because I really have never been a house that has been all hardwood for a longer period of time. So I guess I am just not used to it. I don’t like the stove either, did I tell you that? Its a smooth top stove – and I think I might try it for a few days, then put it up for sale, and buy a gas stove.
So you also have at&t???
Awesome!!! Now we can try for F-R-E-E!! So..what are you waiting for… call me!
Waise havan rakhne wale naye ghar main October main (shayad Dusshera ke aas paas). Aaise kah rahi hai jaaise aa jaayegi…hai na?
THE parallels in our lives! Humaare ghar main bhi sabke cell phones aaye recently even the kid brother has one! Darn it humko high school main cell phones to nahi mile the..haha
Keep up the good streak! Itni lambi struggling time ke baad good streak toh aani hi thi!
Yea we are long overdue on a phone call…i got a new razr and hate it it doesnt even have call waiting so going today to change the phone fir aake karti hoon
SWEET! Macs are great! I am waiting for that Apple vs. Microsoft post.
