When Everything Goes Right, Something Has to go Wrong

Posted on March 30th, 2006 by Poonam

Am going to Chicago tomorrow as I have to go to the Indian Embassy for my American friends. I am going to go and get their visa stamping for India done. I have to turn in the passports by 12 pm and I should get them back by 3 pm.

Received some odd news today — we should be happy, but its just now another tension on our minds. Neeraj’s green card (permanent resident) interview date has arrived. Its on 25th May. This interview is crucial for Neeraj to be able to stay in the USA for long-term period. It says on there that you must have an emergency reason (illness or illness of a close relative) in order to reschedule your interview. As you may know we will be India during 25th May time period. We are not scheduled to return to the USA until 3rd June, so now its just another tension on our minds.

Just when life is going smooth, God throws a curveball. :???: Aaise kyon hota hai? Kaise hota hai? Papa is going to talk to my thoujee, and we may consult an immigration lawyer. It says that if the Immigration people don’t accept your reason for not coming to the interview, they can deny your case — which would mean that Neeraj would have no status in the US. As you can see this is a big deal — bahut soch samaj ke decision lena padega. :duck:

Will keep an update on what happens.

Otherwise — gas price has skyrocketed to $2.58 per gallon. :irked: What a pain — at one time in my lifetime the cost of gasoline was $.99 per gallon. By 2020, the price is going to be around $8/per gallon. Can you imagine?????? Eeks. :faint:

What was up with that model and her losing her dress on the ramp of that famous designing show in India???? Yikes. Can’t designer make more secure clothing?? Hadd hai yaar.

Chal chal, kal subah jaldi oothne ka hai. Am waiting for my cousin to send me some photos of the invitation card so that I can yes that everything is written correctly, and they can send it for printing. Haan maharani (that would be me  ) ki approval chaiye hota hai. Aakhir main shaadi kiski hai??

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.

You are first Mehak. Yup, I think we will make sure that we are 100% positive on the decision that we make because it will be a crucial one. 51 rupees per litre…hmm…how many litres in a gallon?? :???: Lagta hai thoda calculation karna padega. You are right abt. the designers and these models should wear more comfortable clothing to avoid such mishaps. Don’t they have any trial runs before they go ahead with these type of events???

    Thanks Ankur.

Good to see you after such a long time Mona!!! You are back at Accenture by this Monday? That’s really great!! I shall email you on your email ID. You all have not decided yet abt. Suhadi coming, and when he is coming?? Day 4 of Lakme India Fashion Week….another model…Ujjwala raut this time…drops her top on the ramp..* i smell some kind of publicity stint here…*

  10. harry Says:

the clothes cudn’t stay for a few minutes on the ramp….they expect ppl out there to follow that stupid fashion n have the same view on the streets everyday?!!

btw we’re feeling the gas prices heat back here in india as well :(

  11. Poonam Says:
Hmm…so then that makes it just about the same in India and US Mehak. Thanks for doing the calculation. Oh really?? It happened again?? Yup, I think you are right on the publicity stint — its so wrong.

You know Harry that was one of the most wondered things of the world for me as well!!! The clothes that they were in these fashion shows have no resemblance to what people wear in real life… maybe its more for the reel life and/or the upper class (i.e. famous people).

As for the gas prices, it seems the price is just about the same in both countries. Not good.

[...] NP News Bulletin - Current Time Ok zoom back to the present, and what is happening with us. Yesterday in the mail Neeraj and I received a letter from USCIS. As you know Neeraj and I have been waiting for his Green Card interview date that we had requested to be rescheduled. The date is finally in, and Neeraj’s interview date is on 21st August Now we have to get all of our documents ready to ensure that the interview goes well. This is the LAST step (let’s hope ) on our immigration journey, and most important too. It will feel good once all of this is done and Neeraj is a US Permanent Resident. [...]
