Back For Good..

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

I said that I would be back whenever I felt that positive energy, and here I am. I began to realize the support system that Neeraj and I have gained from this site, and that is something that we just don’t want to give up.

We are feeling better, and its a new week that will hopefully bring new and better things. Let’s see what is in store. I can’t say that I am feeling 100% better, and that won’t happen until that feeling of satisfaction is there, but my optimisim is up and will remain up.

Thanks to you all for taking your time to read my post and to comment. Thanks to everyone that sent me a message on messenger just to see how I was doing. It truly made a difference, and I don’t know really how I can express it other than my gratitude that there are people that really do care and want to help, and don’t just say it to say it.

This place will liven up, and it will start with a **special post** tomorrow. Is it for Swatantrata Divas, just wait and see.

Stupid Mouse, Lost the Post!

Friday, July 29th, 2005

I wrote a post from my heart, and I lost it. :banghead: How? Its all due to my stupid mouse on my laptop. Its so messed up, just goes all over the place and then I have no control over it whenever I press any key on the keyboard!!!!! :irked: Now, I don’t have the patience to sit and re-write it now. Aargh! :grumpy: Its a good thing I am going to the Chicago office on Monday to get this stupid mouse fixed, its been driving me up a wall for six months!!! :banghead: :irked:

So here’s the title of my next post: The Liberated Woman, Is it Me?

On the personal front: Neeraj’s passport hadn’t dried fully so he didn’t go to Ahmedabad today. He will be going back to the Consulate on Monday, and then take the train straight to his home that day.

Virtual Bloggers Meet - Come and Join!

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Current Tune: Aisa Deewana - Dil Maange More

Good to hear that someone is taking the initiative on having a Virtual Blogger’s Meet. Good going Kaush! Let’s hope it all works out. For more details go visit Kaush’s site. I don’t think the date and time has been fixed yet, but she does have a mini poll up where you can help all included to decide on a time.

I hope to join — so I hope that the many that come to our blog come online for the event. Its going to be on Yahoo Messenger and make sure that you either have a webcam, microphone, or a photo of yourself handy because its going to be a requirement. It will definitely be a requirement if you want to talk to me. Even though I think I know what most of you look like. :rotfl:

Anyway, the blog itself is password protected. Let me know if anyone has any problems or finds any loopholes. Let me know if you have any feedback as well.

New photos will be up soon on the Our Photos section. Check tomorrow (Friday).

My main problem with the robots is on Yahoo. I found that Inktomi Slurp bot, which is Yahoo’s robot, is indexing my pages like crazy! :irked: So I am going to try to implement Chetan’s code. Thanks for it!

| UPDATE - 8.21 am CST - 29th April, 2005 |

Going a little too password protected happy - so thanks to Manpreet, I have now made the photos not protected. So everyone that has access feel free to look at the photos and comment if you like any of the photos.

Password Protect Blog?

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

It seems that this website of ours is jumping up a bit too much when googling. This is a bit of a problem for us because I have too many family members that still don’t know about Neeraj. :faint: The concern is very sincere and something that I would like to do until Neeraj and I get atleast engaged. Promise it will only be temporarily. I do sometimes post things that I really wouldn’t want certain family to know.

So don’t be surprised if the blog becomes password protected — in full. Right now I have the index.html page being redirected to /wp but I think I might just do something like Govind has and make my index.html as a intro/login page. Still not having good luck on finding a good plugin or php script for the password protection. Surely I will try to make it as easy and painless for all of my daily readers.

If anybody has any good ideas do let me know on how I can go about this painlessly. There are some scripts using .htaccess file — but again, I don’t know if I want to play with that file.

I am still debating if I even want to do this, but I can find more reasons on why I should, then why I shouldn’t. Aargh. :irked: Life would be easier if a certain search engine would just not index my site. :irked: Anybody know how to do that???

For the Creative Minds..

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

Word on the street is that Wordpress has a new version, 1.5-gamma, out for trial. Well, I have heard some good reviews and am getting interested in upgrading my blog provider.

Now while I am going to make the upgrade anyway, why not come out with a new template? Let’s go for a change. Now what’s the problem? Well, I am not very creative in coming up with a nice header (see Manpreet’s blog to see an idea of what we are looking for  ).

So for the creative mind, if anyone would like to design a header for our new template (just about the size that Manpreet has) then do comment and let us know. You can send over your design to our email, np{at]neerajpoonam[dot]com and then we can chat further.

What do you get out of it? Lifetime recognition on our site that you made the header. If not already there, then a link to your site or info as needed. How does that sound? No, we aren’t going to pay you for it, but if you would like to do it for the condition given above, then cool.

Let us know if anyone is interested in helping us out.

| UPDATE - 7th Feb - 10.56 AM |

Now that I have stirred some interest amongst the junta , maybe I should clarify a few things. The header should be, of course, something related to Neeraj and myself (fusion of pics or whatever you want to do, creativity is up to you). For colors, I was thinking some shade of red (color of love  ). It should still have the same words as we have now:

  • Neeraj and Poonam’s Weblog
  • NeerajPoonam Dot Com
  • Our Journey Begins…Together
  • Now how you incorporate all this, is up to you. You don’t have to use our photos, you could do something creative with our theme: Our Journey Begins…Together. Its all up to your creative mind. Thanks to all who have decided to help us out!

Which CD Will I Make First?

    Thursday, September 16th, 2004

I think the downloading of Neeraj and my All Time Fav. Romantic Songs are going quite well. Thanks to the help of Ankur yesterday, we are down to only three more songs in two CDs (1 & 4). Two songs that I am having terrible trouble finding are the original versions of:

  • Bahon Mein Teri - Kaala Patthar
  • Tumse Durr Rahke - Adalat (1976)
  • If you know where we can download them, we would greatly appreciate an email.

[UPDATE: 18th September 2004] - Thank you to Ankur, we now have Bahon Mein Teri. Thank you so much!

[UPDTATE: 4th February 2005] - Thanks to Ares, we now have Tumse Durr Rahke.

I also had a question for Ankur today and he introduced to me a great software: MusicMatch Jukebox. I had a problem that I had audio CDs of a couple of songs that I wanted to put on my hard drive. I needed some kind of converter that would convert my audio CDs to MP3s. This is the tool to use. Now went straight to the website to download the new version (9.0) but of course it doesn’t work on Windows 98. :irked: Now what to do? Google helped me find this site that has old version of softwares. Thanks Google and Old Version.Com!

Stay Tuned - a new addition to the “Ongoing Lists” section on the left tomorrow!

    Ares Lite 1.8.1 And More…

    Monday, July 26th, 2004

So yesterday I woke up pretty late as Neeraj and I spent all Sunday morning chatting on the net (as you can see from the timings of the post, I didn’t get to bed until after 5 am central US time ).

Later that afternoon, I was talking to Naveen. A little background on Naveen. He is 11 yrs old and he is Srinivas Uncle and Rekha Aunty’s son (friends of my parents). Naveen only speaks English and I have been telling him for two years that he should learn Hindi.

So I was talking to him yesterday on AOL, and he wanted to know the newest Hindi songs. I was shocked . Naveen and hindi songs?? Could it be true?

Yes it was. He found a new downloading tool (similar to Kazaa but no ads :grin:) and he was learning Hindi from his parents so wanted to download some new songs. I told him that I was going to re-download Kazaa but thought I would give this new software a shot.

Its called Ares Lite 1.8.1 and you can download it here. You download the software (only 913 kb) onto your hard drive and then you connect to their central computers and are able to access songs.

I have downloaded it and made sure that hindi songs were available (which they were). I didn’t get a chance to download any songs because then it was time to go to Chicago . Oh well, I will be back home on Wednesday so will try it then.

    OTHER updates:

    1. Easy link for All Time Fav. Songs - so if you think of any please do let us know
2.Contact Us” page is up - check out the link
    3. New photos are up as well and can check by clicking Our Photos. This will get updated periodically and will let you know when it does
    4. Archives are on the left now.

    Photo Gallery is Available!

    Friday, July 16th, 2004

I have created our Photo Gallery that you can now check out by clicking on “Our Photos” on the navigation bar. Right now there are limited photos because I am still in the beginning to adding photos. I would suggest to view the photos either by slideshow (that option is available on your upper right hand corner) or by clicking on the album and then clicking on each photo. If you view the latter, then you will see the description of each photo and more details on each person in the photo.

Hopefully by tonight I will have more photos up. Stay tuned!!

I am watching “Main Hoon Na” at the same time so I am a bit slow with the uploading
