Current Tune: Sab Kuch Seekha Humne

So I have updated to the latest version of wordpress - 2.5.1. Its an achievement because the last thing that I have been working on these days is my blog. Sorry dear blog, sometimes there are other priorities that took over our life. But now its just the beginning of your makeover. A new theme will be headed soon, but first, I have to make it.

Busy Week…Updates from the Past….

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Neeraj and I have a lot going on for this week……just like any other week. I am looking for a way to convert a powerpoint file (ppt) to dvd. I have a slideshow that Neeraj and I created of our wedding photos and music that we used behind it that I would like to convert into a DVD. But I am not able to do it using the Roxio DVD Creator software that I have. So if anybody has any suggestions that would be great.

I have to go to the mall this weekend. We will be in Morton this weekend for an engagement party, and we need to get a card to give them. It will be great seeing the family after two weeks.

Neeraj and I have to look at our stuff and what we need to get ready to go back to our MBA classes for the summer. Looking for books is one of the things on target…… :eyebrow:

Then there are always other stuff that come up that we need to complete so the week will hopefully just fly. I would like to update the blog to the latest and greatest Wordpress version, but that always get put on the backburner.

We are still looking for bedroom furniture too….we have given ourselves an April 18 deadline to buy it :!:

2007 - A Year in Review

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

First of all, thank you to all that wished me on my birthday. A special thanks to my dear Neeraj for writing that sweet post for me. You are the best :!: Thanks also to my dear sweet Neeraj for the beautiful gifts (perfumes - Ralph Lauren’s Romance and Chanel’s Chance) as well as the Swarovski heart locket and matching earrings. Love you lots!

Just like the years before, its time for a year in review - 2007 - and look back and all that is happened this year in NP’s world. I am going to start thinking from the beginning of the year and start jotting them down.

The Break is Here….Yes!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I can’t believe that the Thanksgiving break is almost here. I think Neeraj and I are both ready for it. Work has been really busy these days so it will be nice to have a break. I am glad for it being Saturday too. This is finally a day that we are not traveling anywhere, and we are just home to get stuff done. One of the things on my list was to write this post, so now I can mark it off.

So Om Shanti Om is playing at the multiplex here, but I don’t think Neeraj and I are going to go see it. Neither of us are really interested in the movie, I would have gone just to see that song, Deewangi Deewangi. No probs, we will watch it when it comes out on DVD.

The parents are going to India next week. I am glad that they are going because they will get to see everyone (especially nani and Funny Aunty), a visit a new place (Nepal), and even get my brother engaged! Brother engaged???? Nah, I am just kidding. I don’t think my parents would make a move so quickly and without letting Suraj meet her first.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, that means Black Friday is also here. I always look forward to it because of the deals. I did a quick check a few days ago on what the deals might be on the Internet, but I am going to have go into a bit more detail one of these days to decide if its worth it to go out that morning.

Here’s another reason why I will make sure that I don’t travel Air India. Air India really needs to get their act together in order to be competitive in the airline market.

I started this post on one day..ending it on another day. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Then What Happened?

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

So I left off the last post with the moving on the 22nd of September. Because we had some great help from two of my colleagues (one being my old boss) from the office, also our dear friend Nishant from Decatur (now moved to Springfield), and of course Suraj, they were able to get us moved very quickly. Thanks to all that helped. Muki Chacha and family also came from Chicago that evening, and even brought Papa early from Springfield, which was very nice. We all went out to a Mexican restaurant that night, a first for Neeraj and us because we hadn’t try any Mexican restaurants because Taco Bell Zindabad! Anyway, it was pretty good, and we had a good time with all.

That night we hardly slept because everyone was together, and the next morning we were up at 4am. We had a special religious (vaastu pooja) at 6am, so Neeraj had to go and pick up the panditji from the temple and then the pooja began. This is a very normal Hindu tradition to have this ceremony in order to bless those who live in the home, those come into the home, and all that come in touch with us at this home.

We have still been in the process of getting the major stuff setup in the house. Neeraj has been Mr. Blinds as none of our windows were covered when we entered the house. Slowly he has done a great job of getting all that setup properly. I have setup the computer network with two PCs setup. I have been organizing the various photo frames and of course the kitchen as well. Today we made the investment of a lawnmower, and Neeraj had his first experience of cutting grass in 90 degree weather! You will have to ask him how it was.

MBA classes so far have been really good. Both classes have a great professors who have said that they are not here to fail anyone but ensure that all of the students are successfull in learning. That really makes you feel good that you and your professor are working towards one goal throughout the semester. I definitely feel a different atmosphere between graduate level and undergraduate level classes which was the expectation and nice to see that it is happening. Hopefully the rest of the classes will be as positive as these two.

Time passes by very quickly, but many a times I think about many things that happen to us that makes me think “I should write about this”. Most of the times it is the experiences that we face with the various companies, especially now that we are buying and interacting more often with them. For instance, today when we were in the merchandise pick-up area at this store, Sears, these two guys came out with our lawnmower and tried to put it in the trunk. They put it in and saw that it was not going through properly, but not once did they think of other ways they could make this fit. At the end, Neeraj had to tell them why not put it in the backseat, and then one of the guys was like, “uhh ok.” Guess what - it fit properly. There are more examples with many more companies, but its the lack of customer service that companies provide these days that makes me upset. You see it more often these days with airline companies (we were talking about this in our Legal, Ethical Behavior class too this past week) where they could careless the problems their customers go through to get on an airplane. Its the same with travel agents. They could careless about getting you a good deal, but they will do anything, even lie to you (i.e. 4lowfare.com - don’t use it) to get your business. They will even try to charge you extra if you use your credit card when you can go to any regular travel site like Travelocity or Expedia and not be charged at all.

But such is life and until we get more people to realize to take some action, these companies will keep on taking advantage of providing as little customer service as possible to their customers. :banghead: :duh: :fiery:

Changes…Is the Whirlwind Over?

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

So finally I have time to write.  I am happy to see my dear blog again. Now the tough part…where to begin? Let’s just go through this whole month and maybe then you will see the reason that I didn’t even see my PC for so long.

September started with the Vegas/Grand Canyon Family Trip. What an awesome time we had and because there are so many details that I want to share it will be the next post that I write. Look for it soon with some pics.

New Home Update…Aur New…..

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Its been long since I posted….I know I know. The last week at work was really busy with me tryiing oust multiple fires at one time. :hot: :fiery: Then the weekend comes, and Neeraj and I try to catch up on all the things we had said we would do during the week.

So finally I have put up our house photos, but you will have to ask me for the link. So if I have already not sent you the link to where they are stored (they are somewhere else other than this site), then send me a quick email or IM, and it will soon be in your inbox.

We had our house inspection today, and there were only two minor things noticed by the inspector. So we will talk to our agent tomorrow, and get that back to the sellers’ to fix.

As you may have known, I had gotten a new phone when I was in India in March. At that time I had asked Neeraj if he also wanted to get one in India, but he said no. He wanted to get a PDA phone, like Palm Treo or Blackberry in the US. So I said okay, we will wait until our contract is up in August/September of this year to get you a new phone, and until then, you should research what you want to get.

Neeraj did some research, and then two weeks back we had gone to this mall that has a store that we don’t visit often. I had some work that I needed to do so I told Neeraj that we will meet back in about 10 minutes. I called him to find out where he was, and I found out that he was at that store (the one that we don’t visit that often).

So I went in, found him, and asked what he was looking at — and he says to me, “I think I found it.” I asked him, “What did you find?”, and he says, “My new phone. ”

So we both played around that phone for a while, and I kept asking if it had all the features we both wanted (ability to use calendar quickly, have a stylus or way to write down stuff in the phone, email and web capabilities, etc..). He showed me all the different things it could do; you could even store music. :eyebrow: Being me, I wanted to be convinced totally. So we went down to the AT&T store on the first floor and took a hard try on all of the other phones that Neeraj said that he wanted (Blackberry and all its versions, and Palm Treo and its versions).

At the end, he liked the phone that he saw first. So last Saturday we finally bought it, and I would have to say this is the first time this company has finally made a decent product  We both have so far been very happy for what we have paid for - and yes, we paid a handful.

So which phone was it? Guesses? I bet you know by now. You darn smart people.
Yes, it is…………….
