Aarushi Murder Case - Too Many Holes

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

So I have been following the Aarushi Murder Case because that’s all you can hear or see about when you turn to Aaj Tak, Sahara Samay, or Headlines Today (the only 3 Hindi newschannels that we have) when they are not showing about the Great Khali or IPL.

Aarushi Talwar's Murder Case

For those who don’t know about this case, its been believed that Dr. Rajesh Talwar, a dentist, murdered his 14 year old daughter, Aarushi, and also his servant, Hemraj, in Noida (near Delhi). At first, there were many more suspects, but since then the UP (Uttar Pradesh) police have deemed Rajesh Talwar to be the main culprit.

The reason of why he would have murdered his own daughter? That is not clear….atleast not to me. Once the police had given their statement after seeing the autopsies, it was determined that Rajesh Talwar had come home (I think this was now two weeks ago) and saw his daughter Aarushi and the servant, Hemraj in an objectionable position. Ok so who knows what the heck that really means. So when Rajesh questioned his daughter on what was happening, she talked back to him mentioning that how could be upset with her when he too, Rajesh, was having an affair with another woman. So then Hemraj either goes to the terrace or taken to the terrace, by the waythere are blood stains that were found on the terrace steps that haven’t been questioned yet, where he was allegedly killed by Rajesh with a hammer and slit his throat with a knife. Then Rajesh came downstairs, drank some whiskey, and then went and did something similar to his daughter.

7 Days in Mumbai - Felt like 3

Monday, May 14th, 2007

So we reached the very hot Aamchi Mumbai from Kolkata on the 13th of March. Roop Mama and Sangeeta Mami picked us up from the airport, and we were off to my nani’s house in the city. This is the first time that I have stayed at nani’s house and not once did I have dinner @ home. Let me explain why……

1st Night in Mumbai
Roop Mama decided to take us to the mall in Mumbai Central (I can’t remember the name of it now :irked:). So it was Roop Mama, Sangeeta Mami, their two sons, Rishabh & Gautam, and then Lalit’s Mama’s two daughters, Chandni & Heena, along with Neeraj and me. So as we got outside of nani’s house, it was very much decided that we needed to get two taxis. As we determined who will sit where, everyone said that Neeraj and I would be sitting separately (hadd hai yaar  ). So Roop Mama decided why not make a game out of this - so two captains were chosen (Roop Mama and Neeraj), and they created their teams. So it was Roop Mama, Heena, Gautam, and myself vs. Neeraj, Sangeeta Mami, Chandni, and Rishabh.

Goal? First to reach the mall from nani’s house. On your marks, get set………..go!

Kolkata’s Khubsoorti

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Our time in Kolkata was short. We reached the night before of the wedding and left the day after in the morning.

We were attending Neeraj’s friend’s (Rajat) wedding in Kolkata. Rajat and Neeraj are college friends, and it worked out perfectly for us that we would be in India during the time of his marriage. Also many of Neeraj’s IIT friends from India and abroad were also attending the marriage so it became much more of a reunion for them.

Current Tune - Rabba Khair Kare Loot Gaya Sardar - Hattrick

So 9th March at 8.30 am, Neeraj’s parents had their US embassy interview for the US tourist visa. We reached Old Delhi station very late (our train was late) from Jaipur on the night of the 8th. My mausaji came and picked us up, and we stayed @ their place.

On 9th morning as we headed to the embassy, I noticed that Neeraj seemed very uncomfortable, but when I asked, he didn’t say anything. Then we dropped his parents off at the embassy, and because it was so early there was no dukaan wukaan open for any coffee or tea. So one of our relatives lives in the Air India colony, so we dropped over @ their house for some tea. We stayed there until for a good hour and half, and then we thought we should go back because Neeraj’s parents interview must be done by now. We reached back, and Neeraj’s parents were already outside waiting for us with the good news that they had gotten the visa.

India Trip Continues…

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

After reaching Jaipur, everybody began to disperse their own ways the next morning. Both didis and Neeraj’s bade bhaiya & family went back to Hindaun. Neeraj’s middle sister went to her sasural (in-laws) the same day. Neeraj’s parents were going to reach the next day to Jaipur, as we were going to leave for Delhi that night (8th March). On 9th March, they had their US Visa interview at the Delhi embassy.

India Trip Continues…After Holi Events

Current Tune: U n I Let’s Do Balle - Naksha

So you would think that the mega surprise of NP reaching home to Hindaun would be enough, but we didn’t think so. We wanted to do something else for the family, so we decided to take them somewhere. Somewhere they have never been, and may not have a chance to go again as a full family due to timing, school of children, etc… Neeraj’s two brothers and two sisters were in Hindaun with us, like I had mentioned before, and one middle sister was in Ahmedabad. The night before Holi we told the family to be ready as we are going to the city that never sleeps on Monday. Which city is that? The bestest city of the world - Aamchi Mumbai.

Long Awaited..But Finally Here!

This post should have been written a few days ago but life ko manzoor nahi hai ke woh dheere chale (life doesn’t agree to slowdown  ).

So let’s recap on what has happened over the past 6+ weeks:

Word from India

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Well friends, I haven’t had a chance to write because Neeraj and I have been travelling every two days. Our trip is almost over, yes, we are in India. The surprise was a great success — you should have seen the look on Neeraj’s family’s face when we reached the house in Hindaun. It was a great pleasure for us to see their surprised looks.

Another good news is that Neeraj’s parents have gotten their US Visa. So they will be coming with us or a few days after us.

We are currently in Mumbai, and will be heading out to Jaipur on Monday. Then we will be in Rajasthan for a few days traveling, then to Delhi, and then to US.

The trip has been fantastic, and we are trying to take the maximum number of photos with our new digital camera, Canon Powershot G7. So far it has been a great experience using it, and we will be excited to share once we return.

Neeraj’s health was a bit down around the 9th due to bad food in the train from Jaipur to Delhi, but now he is back to normal. I am keeping a sharp eye on what he is eating.

Today we are off to Powai for a great fun of go-karting with the family.

Rest is well, and if I get a chance to sit down at the PC again then definitely you will see another post from me. If not, then once returning to US, I will have the full story of the trip (as usual  ).

Alvida. Jai Mata Di.
